997 Seats

Hey guys,

Waiting for my 997S to arrive is such an agonizing time, its a february build. Last minute decision i was still able to make changes i added the sport seats, not the adaptive ones but the regular sport seats with manual adjustment. I sat in them for a bit and figured i would get used to them especially since i am 5'9 and weigh about 142 pounds. I just couldnt see the value in the adaptive ones. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Quick, change the order again...

I love my adaptive sport seats! With 3 different memory settings it's just a quick button push to change the position to fit what I'm doing at the time. Not to mention the feel of the side bolsters.

To each his own, but I for one feel the cost of the adaptive sports seats was justified. Good luck!

Quick, stay with your order. The regular sport seats are great, probably weigh less than adaptive also.

for the most part it seems the first year 997s have been very reliable with only very small 'niggles', like squeaks, etc.

I test drove a 997S with regular sport seats and felt fine even though it felt kind of tight for me (I'm 6'2" and my 996 regular seats feels better to me).

Regarding the memory buttons, as RC mentioned and one other individual that I met at the dealer said that in sharp/fast left turns you tend to hit the buttons with your knee and while driving the position changes on you. Unless you program all three memory buttons for the same position

I absolutely love my adaptive sport seats. I have found them far more comfortable than the 996 seats. The seats and the improved interior is what (for me) ended the debate between the Carrera S, Vs. an '04 C4S or a used Turbo.

Guys, I have been looking all over for this bit of info. I am 6'2" and I am very worried about my order which I can still change:

I added the electric adjustment on standard seats, but i did feel a bit tight at the shoulders after 20min test drive. I never bothered to ask the dealer about the adaptive sports seat. Now I am wondering if the adaptive would fit my build better.

Please let me know your experience on how the upper part of the adaptive seat works for you tall guys??? and how do you weigh the difference?

There's always fine tuning the upholstery..

The 996 seats were constructed so the center insert of the seat bottom and the seat back could be pulled out so "stuffing" could be placed behind it. Some guys got great relief for sore backs with just an inch or so of extra padding which they "installed" themselves. I betcha you can do something similar with the new seats. If not a do it yourself thing then a good auto upholstery shop will probably be able to elininate your specific problem.

I'm 6'2" & 195

I have the standard seats with power and they are very comforatble. I am very happy with them. My wife has never liked the sport seats so I did not get them and she does ride copilot a lot.
