I agree other than the mass of black plastic. As much as I'd love a Crystal Green Metallic (closest thing to AM California Sage that's easy to get in Porsche) or an Ice Green Metallic I don't think it will look as good as a darker colour to mask the plastic. I"m thinking Yachting Blue may be the way to go.

The reason the GT3 model exists is not to look expensive.  It's a race car for the road (or some will say I have it reversed) that is meant to give extreme driving satisfaction and performance with incredible race track endurance (shouldn't break or get easily worn from extreme use).

I also find the GT3 design very successful for a Porsche of its class. My favourite modern 911 design is the GT2 RS (991) with the new GT3 just behind.

All sports cars are growing larger with lots of appendages and gaping holes. See the present day Ferraris and Lamborghinis, for example  which are not lithe and gracefully stylish anymore as they used to be.

Similarly,  the contemporary GT3 for reasons we all know cannot be tiny and puristic like a 70s 2.7 RS

True that the black plastic parts are hideous. Wonder If we get used to them with time. All those light metallic colors from the late 70's early 80's look very good when in contrast with black parts.  In this regard it would suit the 992 and make it a bit ''lighter looking '' and bring the eye to the interesting and changing  painted part instead of the black plastic.

But Yachting blue would also suit it and make the plastic disappear more. Then it would maybe make the car look too ''common '' .

I think the car looks best with light colors where all the black parts provides for a nice contrast.

    Re: 992 GT3

I truly think it looks great. Only at first sight was I struggling with the mouth.

i also think it makes the car somewhat more exotic

I’m not the biggest fan of the standard and aero kit styling

    Re: 992 GT3

I believe no one of us has seen the car live as yet.

I am sure that the "plasticky" front, which has been criticized by many,  will look much different in reality because the black plastic amounts to some 3/10ths of the frontal area as the rest is taken by a meshed grille. This magnificent engine needs to breath lost of fresh air.Smiley

While partial to blue, the San Marino, to my eyes, appears too bright and harsh for this car.  The Oak Green is just right.

    Re: 992 GT3

The rear spoiler is directly from the RSR, and most likely is not plastic. See my post above which provides a good overview of the car that will be campaigned by TPR racing.

The point is, yes cars have gotten bigger, but the Ferraris and Lamborghinis didn't gain significantly in one measurement, they just got proportionally larger.

The 992 on the other hand gain disproportionally in the waist section, it's like a playboy model went on a 5000 calorie a meal diet without exercise. At this rate, the next generation of 911s might have it's widest point at the waist line instead of the hips.

Tend to agree. GT Silver for example looks great with the contrasting black, albeit is probably enhanced with the farbon fibre roof option (which is horrendously expensive but perhaps necessary)

    Re: 992 GT3

The hips grow wider because the increased  performance demands it. Just look at the Porsche race cars. You can’t have extreme performance with skinny tires. Also, in the video I posted, it’s fascinating to note that the 992 GT 3 cup cars actually have a wider front stance than the rear.
