    Re: [2021] Formula 1

    Are you sure about that?

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

    100% a fact.

The sponsor, URALKALI who basically is paying for the Haas season, ( they would be bankrupt otherwise )  wanted the Russian deco. You can see it very well on the sides and the front spoiler.

That's humiliating. I wonder how long Seb will enjoy that.

He got paid enough to swallow those..............

Yes that's true... and I am sure that a few races in to the season Lance will not have much to say anyway... SmileySmiley

Nice change of pace, um, from the Mercedes GT.  Hope this green version of Mercedes sounds as glorious as the silver one.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Which is quite inline with what everyone had been describing about the RB car. It has a very loose rear end.

F1 cars are already mid engined so they change directions very quickly, very agile. The RB is even more 'agile' with the high front  low rear rend grip. Couple that with a 'short' wheelbase, it makes for a very difficult to control car.

It will be a very quick turn in car, but by mid corner the rear will be quite a handful. Max probably wanted such a car but his partner will need to get used to it, maybe Perez has enough experience to do it.

    AMG GT R safety car

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

During SV's time at RB the car had a very stable rear end, especially with the blown diffuser.

Curious if the loose rear end is a design and geometry set up to MV preferences, or rather Adrian Newey has changed design philosophy over the decade and MV is better equipped to deal with it compared to PG, AA etc

My take is that it is Max's preference.

I think it's just the way the newer kids was brought up with their karting driving style. Leclerc probably preferred the same style to an extend and with Ferrari favoring him over Vettel that's one reason Leclerc was faster in the 'same' car.

Perhaps Gasly and Albon just didn't want the car to be on that extreme end of the spectrum, they could perhaps can get use to Leclerc's style though.

Driving style have evolved over the years. When I was first taught, it was doing all your stopping on a straight line, then turn in. The current preferred method is brake later while turning and then trail it all the way to the apex. And that demands much more front end grip than ever as the front tires are doing double duty for a longer periods of time in a corner. Literally in the first half of a corner the car is like out of control, the driver is saving the car via steering and brake pressure, the moment the car is pointed at the right direction, throttle is applied right away. The speed curve through the corner will be a V shape rather than a U shape, the absolute lowest speed through a corner is slower but it's faster everywhere else on the curve, it's how the modern technique gains a tenth, a hundredth here and there.

Our academy has 3 kids that used to race Cup cars, and they are still competing in karts. If I jump in a Cup car with their setup, it's undriveable for me. It is slower for me to use their setup than what my own preference is.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Best part of this season will be some of the intra-team rivalries.

    Ricciardo v Norris

    Sainz v Leclerc

    Perez v Verstappen

    Alonso v Ocon

    Tsunoda v Gasly

Vettel v Stroll (junior and senior!)

    Bring it on!

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

At least in those rivalries they will supposedly have evenly matched cars

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Does anyone believe in a Ferrari recovery??? I have really doubt that they can come back this year... I think they will clear some ground but there is no chance IMO that they will close the gap to Mercedes... I am hoping for a good fight between Mercedes, Red Bull and maybe AM (Vettel) ....

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

It’s doubtful that Ferrari will improve much over last year’s performance.  They have returned to being a well-known middle-of-pack team.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

unless the new engine really delivers 65HP more I am not seeing Ferrari anywhere near the front. I also read that they mainly focus on 2022

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

But there are rumors that the engine was not really so weak last year, they just had to use less fuel than the others due to the cheating...  I think they will be competitive this year... not on Mercedes level but they will be good for constant podiums...
