Insurance Quotes for Carrera S...

Just some quick advice on different insurance companys (only applies to uk) my quotes varied from Pounds1100 with an RAC TRACKSTAR fitted, price fully fitted with years subscription is Pounds600, so takes it to Pounds1700.some were as high as Pounds2300 with no TRACKER fitted, i have gone with
Porsche Insurance they do not require a tracker on a car worth Pounds75000 or less! excess was Pounds300 and any repairs will be done at OPC! anyway if my car was stolen i would rather not have it back, they have quoted Pounds1800, i am 33, full protected no claims bonus, car kept in underground secure carpark, anyone got anyother good quotes??????????????

The Trackstar yearly subscription is only Pounds10 per month according to my broker with a purchase cost of Pounds460 (he has this system on his own car). I had a quote of Pounds1062 from Royal Sun Alliance with this device fitted based upon 37 yrs old, car garaged, full NCB. So after year 1 the renewal should only be around Pounds1100 including the Tracstar subscription so a heck of a lot less than Porsche. The xs is higher at Pounds700 though.

Agree grant.uk ,i have had my 997s for 2 weeks and i went with Porsche Insurance too (Pounds1210 ,37 years old, full no claims)They initially wanted Pounds1500 but i haggled a bit and put my father on the policy as this helped reduce by another Pounds100.

Its what I have been saying on other posts - no traker no garage and with wife on the policy Pounds1200 with a few points too !!!

I'm with Egg - need RAC Trackstar, parked on the street, London postcode, Pounds1,550. I'm 33 with full no claims and no points.

Privilege - Pounds1230 with a London postcode and full NCP, Privilege have proved to be far the cheapest for me, I tried PO insurance they wanted Pounds2,000

Regarding tracker, PO dealer has suggested a new system that's has some big advantages over the current systems.
The big one as far I'm concerned is that you can actually contact your car by mobile and switch the engine off, Wow.

In the first instance the car calls you and allows you to locate the car and stop the theft

I've put a link for you all to see the products web site. The down side is it's about Pounds1,000 to buy, but the devise is transferable from car to car unlike all the current trackers.

Privilege will recognize the tracker supplied by i-mob (but you need to check for your own policies)

Wow! You guys really get socked coming and going. Top $ for the cars and then huge insurance costs. $800/yr in upstate New York.

Yes I certainly agree with you. Only thing going for us is less depreciation...so maybe it balances out

No it isn't - drive it "over there" as well - only a fraction of the traffic and some of the most amazing scenery on the planet to drive through

Along the same lines as the others - 33yr, full no claims, greater london post code, some points !! garaged and with a Tracker Horizon, Pounds1050 with ATS Insurance.

They have a table of trackers by value - i.e. if value less than Pounds50k then Tracker Monitor if value over Tracker Horizon (and about 15 others - inc. RAC Trakstar)

Great feeling to get the quote and insurance certificate to hand, although still a wait till 1st March 2005.

Grant - if you prefer to keep your premium low, you can ask them to hike the Excess to as high as possible - I got my excess to Pounds1k - really won't bother making a claim for anything smaller.

I've just had a quote from Porsche Insurance. This is a 3rd party brockerage company that acts on behalf of Porsche Financial Services and obtains quotes from insurers such as Zurich. They quoted me Pounds1,817 with no tracker fitted which is miles away from Royal Sun Alliance quote of Pounds1061 (must have tracker though). The excess on the Zurich policy was Pounds300 as opposed to the Pounds700 required by the RSA but I'd rather pay the lower premium and risk the higher excess.I'm amazed at the difference as I don't live in a high risk area, have full NCB for 8 years, no convinctions and (unfortunatel) am not as young as I'd like to be anymore

The lady doing the quote was very polite and actually apologised for being so far out on price. She told me that a lot of callers have told her that Royal Sun Alliance have been considerably cheaper recently.
