The problem with tuners in general is that they often promise things which aren't true:

    1. More power, same reliability

    2. Lower fuel consumption

    3. Undetectable (especially after removal)

If tuners would be honest with their customers, they'd probably don't sell a single car/tuning kit.

take it from another point of view. same power, better fuel consumption and undetectable; remove weight!

Agreed but how? You can certainly lower the weight on a E63 S AMG by throwing out all the dampening material and unnecessary comfort stuff but try the same on a Performante or the new GT3. You are lucky if you save 20 kg. Smiley

remove seats, change some parts in carbon fiber if you want to be extreme Smiley,

but battery, wheels, exhaust, and brakes are not complicated and you can easily shed weight on interesting area.

The Performante has nothing to get rid off. Smiley A guy who races the car on the Nordschleife (he also owns a GT3 RS MR) did some calculations and it wasn't worth it. 20 kg at max without the need to exchange major parts like doors or hoods (engine hood is carbon anyway) or rims. Really not worth it.

Usually is the States, those owners with the most aggressive weight reduction programs for their cars could lose at least 20 kilograms off their framework too.

Why are all of the digital displays rapidly flashing as he's driving down the road ?  Seems very distracting.

Re: SF 90 Stradale is staggeringly fast and beautiful.

It‘s a camera thing, the display don‘t flash in real.

One thing about the SF90: I think it looks best in black, which says a lot about the design. angry

Mat Watson, who is a slightly less irritating than Schmee, published an amazing video of the new Rimac drag racing the Ferrari SF90.  Ferrari SF90 v new Rimac Nevera: DRAG RACE *WORLD RECORD!!!*

Without posting too much of a spoiler, the resident Tesla boys will be sadly disappointed that even the mighty Rimac only turns a 0-60 mph time of 2.08 seconds.  Even under controlled conditions, Rimac posts a time of 0-100 km/h of 1.97 seconds with ***a one foot roll-out***  This essentially destroys the argument advanced by Musk and his rabid base that the Tesla Model S Plaid+ is capable of reaching 60 mph from a stand still in under 2.0 seconds while wearing street legal rubber. That car is not immutable to the laws of physics.

Lol. Musk is living rent free in lots of heads.  We shall see. Proof that one car can’t do something has rarely been used to prove another can’t either. It is a little weird actually.
I think the big news is the Ferrari got its ass kicked. And if f you care - the Tesla will be friggin fast for a fraction of the cost while seating four. Love that the comparisons have shifted from the Taycan to this monster of a speed freak.

not going to mention that .08 seconds is some trivial nonsense. Made my day when I saw that earlier today and could imagine this post already from you buddy.  So satisfying

I guess it's good news that the Ferrari doesn't also carry 7 years of inflation (actually costing less than 918 did 7 years ago and less than half of what La Ferrari cost)...

    https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a30085446/acceleration-testing-procedure-change-rollout/

C&D times do not include the 1-ft roll out.

It's the American way, from 3-6mph to 60 mph.

Europeans mostly time theirs using GPS, so a true from rest, 0mph / 0km/h to whatever.

And they only do it on a ordinary piece of tarmac at Indy, no super sticky glue needed, unlike say a Tesla.

And also more total HP. 769hp from a twin turbo V8, plus a 201hp electric motor in the back, with 2 more 133hp motor at each front wheel. But because of the weird way the electric side mesh with the engine side, total hp isn't 1236hp but 986hp.

More amazing is the fact that they have tested over 1000 cars in between the 918 and the SF90 and none was able to break the record until now.

The 918 was THAT FAR AHEAD of everyone else back then. That 'pig', can go really fast. Fastest to 60 for 7+ years, fastest at the Ring for 4+ years until the 991 GT2RS came along.

There is a part in me that wanted to order a SF90 just to drive around, a mini-918 so to speak. Cheaper.

Re: SF 90 Stradale is staggeringly fast and beautiful.

we spoke with Walliser once about Tiretechnologies etc and how fast they were evolving - if a new Tire would be made for the 918 I am sure it would further improve  a lot. I dunno if you can just slap a Michelin R tire on it or if you could do much more if they would customize it again. I do not know what the latest is here but would be interesting from Whoopsy to understand what Porsche suggests to owners.

    Nein. Nadda. Zip. Nothing. Smiley

The original OEM Cup 2 N0 was pure black magic. It was an ECO rated tire yet it didn't give up any, if at all, lateral grip. Nor longitudinal grip, seeing how hard it can launch a 4000lb pig from 0-60 in record time. The tire construction was completely customized for the 918.

The Cup 2 N1, then the Cup 2 N2, have stickier compound, but honestly, not by much, if a 918 were to run on those the improvement would be fractional, if at all, as the side wall of those aren't tune to the 918. The N1 tires were tailored for the 991.1 GT3RS and the N2 for the .2. Cup R has the stickiest rubber compound on the surface, the first layer, but the constructions was again not tailored to the 918, it was for 911s. For acceleration purposes, it would surely helped however. As for as I can tell, no 918 owners have ever slapped a set of Cup Rs to theirs yet. Pretty sure Porsche did ran their factory car at Weissach with the Rs and already have data. Think it may not be satisfactory to them, hence no official certification from them for usage. Heck, they never certified the N1 or N2 for the 918 owners. Officially, we are still stuck with the ECO rated N0 tires.

Don't really mind that, a 4000lb car running on ECO rated tires kept the 0-60 crowd fro 7+ years.Smiley

I think the difference is carbon chassis vs aluminum chassis.  Not the same level car.
