Re: OFFICIAL: The new Porsche 992 – a design icon and high-tech sports car

My personal opinion is the 992 looks better in dark colors.

Re: OFFICIAL: The new Porsche 992 – a design icon and high-tech sports car

The most suitable colour for the shape of the 992 is the Achatgrau/Agate Grey for my taste.

Having said that, I saw a GT Silver one which was also nice.

Also, the larger twin exhaust pipes of the sport exhaust in silver (not black) help the somewhat controversial rear design  IMO.

The problem with the "life is too short" comments is that you're not the only one on the road.  I'm an old lady type driver in town in a grey 911 and still get challenged at lights, cut off for no reason, brake checked, etc.  The problem would be even worse in a bright color.  Sorry Wonderbar, but I think you know the answer.

That’s just typical Chicago drivers and that behavior is exhibited regardless of the type of car one drives. It is doubtful that even half the drivers in the Chicago metropolitan area hold a valid driver’s license and insurance.

It happens in California as well.  Where I get the most challenges is from EV vehicles. I never accept the challenge. Smiley

I highly doubt, that a flashy colour makes things worse! Either idiots know the car and will challenge/cut off/slow down you etc. no matter what colour your car has or normal humans respect you in your sportscar or even enjoy seing your car on the road, assuming non-prepubertal behaviour. That‘s my experience at least.

Re: OFFICIAL: The new Porsche 992 – a design icon and high-tech sports car

Thanks for all your comments guys. I’ve decided not to get the car, not just because of the color but because I don’t want to be rushed by a salesman. I have about eight months left on my Panamera Turbo lease and just think it’s prudent to wait and see how I feel in November. I do like the color, maybe just for the hell of it, but will probably go for a different shade. Perhaps Aventurine Green.

Again, thanks for all the feedback – that’s what makes Rennteam great.

Concur.  If one needs to heavily consider what other think than, perhaps, something more pedestrian is required.

I agree and I also have to add that my experience in the Lambo is 1000% "better" than in any Porsche I drove before, which is weird but at the same time also very satisfying.

Interesting that he comments on the noise in the interior cabin. I’ve driven my C4 S almost 5000 miles, and can honestly say the sound hasn’t bothered me a bit.  My only irritation with the car so far is that the door handle sensors are totally unpredictable. When you have something rather bulky in one hand, and you put the other hand under the door handle, it’s pretty frustrating when it doesn’t open like it supposed to.

This was already the case for the 991 generation. Legend has it not even the GT3 RS could keep up with the GTS around the Ring smiley

Particularly, if that person lives at high altitude where it’ll make much more power and torque than Touring.  But Touring still choice for more excitement and better economic performance (if you can acquire at the proper price)

    480ps, that's what the 997.1 turbo has.

In PDK guise this car is faster than the 997 turbo.

True angry but while it will be very fast, and an outstanding daily driver, that turbo engine on the 992 chassis will be much more boring and sensorially uneventful to drive in comparison to the Touring imo.

The GTS has the Sport Design package as standard which basically replicates the looks of the 991.2. The Sport Design package has been available on the 992 almost since the start of production.

Re: OFFICIAL: The new Porsche 992 – a design icon and high-tech sports car

If you consider that the Sport Design Paket  and the sport exhaust come as standard on the GTS, the real price difference between S and GTS is EUR 10.000. This is not bad given the extra performance.

GTS comes with Sport PASM as standard but on the configurator there is an optional PASM with 3 settings instead of 2, for the first time on a 911.

Does anyone know the weight saving from having the Carbon Roof?

I would say rather pointless given the 1600 kgs base weight. Also there is not much info on the improved brake yet - or is this just the diameter front to 408 ?
