Grocery store bagels.  This means you haven't had a real bagel before.

Smiley Once you have a real one those above are just dense bread.

I had many different bagels in the US, some of them coming from prestigious local bakeries but the Thomas's plain bagels were still the best. I haven't tried some recommendations here though (incl. the Whole Foods bagels according to Nick), so I am open minded. Smiley

Not much different with donuts: I had so many different donuts but the best ones are still the ones from Krispy Kreme. Smiley

Just imagine you can't get coffee where you live. Not a certain brand...no coffee at all. This is the (sad) situation with bagels in Germany. Smiley

Just heard back from one of my childhood friends who lives in Mitte in Berlin and according to him you're right, the bagel scene is terrible in Germany as a whole but Fine Bagel in Berlin are very good. He's a Jewish Montrealer so he knows his bagels. He says "They're not St. Viateur good but probably some of the the best in Europe." Then again IMHO no bagel in the world is as good as a st. viateur bagel so...

    No idea if they deliver.

Are you sure we can't trace the origin of these to some german bakery?

Traditionally, Thomas Bakery was known for its English Muffins, with bagels as a relatively recent product expansion.  One must also consider that Thomas' parent organization is Bimbo, based in Mexico, and Thomas bagels manufactured in Amish County.  That's far removed from the origins of bagels.

I eat the bagels, not the history behind them. Smiley

    You're eating a facsimile of a bagel.

Berlin has a larger Jewish community, also it is a very international city, this is why they probably have bakeries making bagels but Bavaria? Oy weh. Smiley Smiley I ordered bagels made in other parts of Germany, even had them "custom made" for me at a local bakery but they all were not really good. Smiley

Sorry, back to topic, GT3: I am not sure how high in demand the GT3 is right now in Germany. My wife could get one right after introduction or early next year (more likely, this is when her lease runs out) without any intervention or whatever. I think people are still waiting to see the car on the road or to read reviews.

I am going to get a test car for around May/June, right after the GT3 pops up at dealers here, so this is going to be interesting. Smiley

I think the GT3's biggest problem is that on the road alone it's a neglectable evolution. Some like the older cockpit actually more than the new 992 layout.

Ferrari's timing with the Roma, a serene classic is impeccable. Watch as normal GT3 buyers [like myself]  go on strike with regard to the monstrosity = GT3 992 and buy Romas instead.

Some of the factory numbers indicate the 992 Manual is actually slower than the 991 Manual in a straight line.  But I am fine with the idea that most of the improvements are only discovered on a race track.

    Re: 992 GT3

I think for speculative bubble reasons interest in the winged GT3 has dropped off; those who like wings buy an RS - those who don’t wait for the Touring.

For whatever reason, the 992GT3 doesn't generate any excitement in me. However, for those that frequently track their car (Grant), the 992 may offer improved times of maybe a couple seconds if that. Is that worth the additional cost? To some it may.

Grant, are you going get the 992?

Hi Nick - I might get it.  I am #1 in line at a small dealership with the promise of no ADM and free Euro Delivery.  If everything falls into place (including a price around $155k before options and a good trade value for my car), then I may do it.

The incentive for me is not the couple/few seconds around my local track that it'll save.  It's the prospect of many track days at the Nurburgring, Spa, Bilster Berg, Red Bull Ring (Austria), etc.  I might plan to keep the car on the continent for 90 days (and maybe go visit it more than once and return home to catch up on work in between).  Doing ED like this is way cheaper than renting cars for this purpose (would need to rent a road car and a track car as regular rental agencies don't allow their cars on the track).  One day of track rental in a GT3 is over $5k with far worse insurance than what is included with ED (or available from The Open Track on a car that you own if one doesn't believe this is included).

Lots of fun opportunities on these schedules:

    https://www.openpitlane.de/alle-termine/

    https://www.greenhelldriving.nuerburgring.de/#/landing

Because of the strong residual value of my GT4 and GT3, it allows the cost of ownership while doing ED to be manageable (and Colorado only charges sales tax on the difference between the cost of the new car less the trade-in value of the old car).

I don't get all the hate the 992 GT3 is getting from RT 90% users... 992 is arguably the best looking iteration since 997 (come on, no more goldfish headlights!) and the GT3 is not only a very good looking car (objectively the rear spoiler is better solved/sleeker than previous generations and the front vents are growing on me more and more) but also a beast in terms of perfomrnace.

Fat? Ugly? Pricey? Really? After praising the 991 design?

    I coined that term Smiley

992 loses the goldfish eyes but gained a shit load in the waist department.

Perhaps I am biased, but I think the 964 turbo has the best 911 proportions front fender-door-rear fender.

    Re: 992 GT3

The silhouette of the 992 with the snout front bumper and wide gapping mouth just isn't attractive. With the RS it has a side vent and a wider rear to offset the vanilla side of the GT3.

Has anyone seen a similarity between this GT3 and the AM Vantage, which was panned here for its gaping black mouth...?
