Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Hello. I'm looking for a photo of a slate grey 997 or Boxster with sand beige interior, and also one with cocoa. Can anyone help?

    Cheers

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

    Thanks Ron.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Hey girlracer. I think they've got various cars with those colors/interiors at our 'friendly, neighborhood' Roger Beasley dealer. Boxsters and 911 variants...

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Thanks Fiebru - Roger Beasley's got those exterior colours, but what I'm trying to find is slate *with* cocoa or sand (have now found pics of seal/cocoa and seal/sand). Haven't actually seen the sand or cocoa interior in the flesh either. I'm thinking slate with cocoa could work beautifully, but sand would be the safe choice.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

girlracer, I too focused on ext/int combos for quite a while myself before deciding. Just my opinion but I would go with Slate/Cocoa...there are some brown hues in the Slate grey, it will look amazing (see photo of Slate/Cocoa 997 on page 71 of "The New 911" brochure--the 112 page 997 book available at dealer--truly maddening because the book depicts both Seal and Slate S models and they oughta label them somehow, but in talking with a PAG phone rep they determined p. 71 car to be Slate). Pleading guilty here to spending WAY too much effort on specc'ing my car.

Both sand beige and cocoa are attractive interiors, but the cocoa has a really rich dark-brown marbled coloration that is simply gorgeous, the marbled thing not present in other interior color choices. Also, I think Cocoa looks a bit better against the interior aluminum-look trim.

I am currently waiting for my March build Arctic/Cocoa 997S (I would've gotten Slate also, but my psychological $90K barrier wouldn't withstand it with other options selected, so I opted for Cocoa as the gravy cosmetic option!)

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Thanks Akron. Mine's actually gonna be a Boxster S, so that could mean cocoa roof also (I posted here because cocoa seems more popular for 997's than 987's). At the moment I'm struggling with the idea of paying $3k for Slate when Seal is so close... so I'm edging towards Seal w/Sand. It's so hard to make these decisions without seeing the full interiors in the flesh though. I've only seen black/grey/blue, none of which I'm interested in!

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

I love the color combination on my 997S - Seal Grey/Sand Beige. I think the Sand Beige interior brightens up the dark Seal Grey exterior.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

I replaced the color with Slate in Photoshop to give you an idea but the wheels got painted too .

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

    Thanks Ron. Nice wheels!

BTW, I agree Seal/Sand looks GREAT. Any more pics you can post (or email me) would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Have to disagree that slate and seal are close - they are very different. You don't really appreciate it until they are parked next to each other.

Slate / cocoa was a real close one for me - the only thing that put me off was paying extra not only for slate, but for cocoa as well.

By the way, my Slate 911 seems to look fantastic even when covered with all the salt we have on the roads here in the UK. Very pleased with the colour...

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

    girlracer,

I don't want to add further confusion but have you seen midnight blue with the metroploe blue hood and sand beige interior. I don't normally like blue on a car but this combination looks stunning.

You're right, what I meant was they were close in that I love them both. I had the luck to see both parked next to each other in the showroom, and that's actually what made me decide on Slate. I held up a Sand Beige leather sample to both cars, and although it worked welll with Seal it really looked special against Slate. Since then I'm swaying back towards Seal purely because of the cost (in the US at least it's $3070 vs $825 for Seal).

Ed, what int. colour did you end up with?

Thanks for that suggestion. I bet it does look stunning. I saw a midnight blue Boxster (not sand interior though) and I actually really liked the blue. Very dark.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

    Girly...Slate w/ Terracotta

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

girlracer - I went for black interior in the end. Not actually as dark and gloomy as you might imagine! One other thing to consider is that black interior cars tend to sell quicker than tan / cocoa according to my dealer. Just a thought which may help you make your mind up...

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

If you are torn on the cost issue I'd go with seal grey, cocoa and the stone grey top - there isn't a cocoa top otion on the UK configurator that I can see. The seal with grey top looks really nice, I've seen quite a few 986 Boxsters with that combination here. That combination would look great.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Ed, I wouldn't worry so much about the sand interior for resale where I am (Texas), cos the Yanks like their pale interiors (black leather gets a bit hot!)

997Fan, that is a stunning combo. Would like to see Terracotta in the flesh.

ISUK, I haven't seen the Stone Grey top, so wasn't sure if it would look good with Slate (or Seal). How dark is it?

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

    girlracer,

It's a very similar colour to the grey top on the BMW Z4. It's difficult to decribe but works well with the seal. Doesn't your dealer have a material swatch for you to look at?

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

I'm sure he does, I had honestly not considered grey. I will check it out. Thanks.

Has anyone scanned "The New 911" brochure? I would really like to see those slate/cocoa pics.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Gracer, sorry no scanned images here. Heck, my wife and I have somehow hoarded 3 of the 'new 911' books; if you email me at carbonragtop@roadfly.org with your address I will throw one of them in the mail to you today....

or stop at your dealer they should have the book to which I refer. I believe it is the only (997) 911 brochure with the color swatches in fold-out section via back cover. (If the brochure has 112 pages total, then you've got the correct one).

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Thanks Akron - I'll check first if my dealer's got on before bothering you. Thanks so much for the offer, I may be in touch later.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

I'm doing black with cocoa on my 987s (2/28 build). I found some pics of a black and cocoa and placed them in the "looking for pics of basalt black" thread on the boxster board. I too like the cocoa for its rich look.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Akron, I just picked up that book from my dealer. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Slate grey with cocoa / sand beige?

Sounds good. If you haven't already done so, check porsche.com 'Find A Dealer' option to scan all area dealers' 911/Boxster inventory-- off-chance that cocoa or terracotta may be sitting in inventory somewhere. The 2004 Boxster 550 Anniv edition had standard combo GTsilver/cocoa. Lately have noticed a few of these gracing dealer lots as pre-owned... although interior cocoa leather was textured differently on BoxS 550Anv than on 997/987 but you can still see the phenomenal color.

You could always make a pilgrimmage to Houston Auto show
We checked out Detroit show couple weeks ago. Porsche had 997 Seal/Cocoa 19" Carrera Classic, 997S Atlas/Beige w/19" Sport Design, 997 Cabrios in Black, Silver/Red(TC?); prob not same colors in all cities but they always seem to have sharp color combos.
(seeing cocoa in Detroit in the flesh is what clinched it for me)
Keep us posted on your selection.
