    Here it is:

Ever the racing pro, Kern thinks there's still a bit more time in the new GT3, but he had a slightly scary moment coming out of the second Karussel, and he didn't want to take big risks to shave off a few tenths here and there. "I'm not Kevin Estre," he says with a laugh, referencing the razor's-edge 'Ring lap his colleague ran in the last-gen GT3 RS back in 2018.

For the track? The latter. For road use? Definitely the first. So the GT3 fails. Smiley

You can always start a tuning/design organization and show Porsche how it’s done.

Nice read. Thanks. And indeed, the GT3 can be faster. But it would make the life of the previous and next RS very difficult !

This also confirms what has generally happened to the 992 compared to previous models :

«  "It lost a little bit of the old 911 driving style where you really have to take care of the front axle, think about what you do. Now you can just floor it into the braking zone, into the corner, and be really rude and aggressive. »

I watched that 992 GT3 lap vidéo again.
And I wonder if the driver didn’t actually hold back. The lap is too clean. He never seems at the limit in corners, unlike in the video with  the 991.2 GT3 RS video.
Doing a lap just under 7 minutes is just perfectly fitted for marketing.
    Fast enough to impress everyone.
Not fast enough to make the 991.2 RS look like a loser.
Leaving enough room for the 992 RS to make a time that will impress and make the car look worthwhile.

I had that thought too.  If Kevin Estre made a lap like he did in the RS (100% effort qualifying lap), I feel like the lap would be even faster.  I wonder if they only bring Estre when they are really trying to reach for the best possible time?

The 992 GT3 video looks more like a Sunday afternoon drive.  One thought the same when first viewing the cockpit video.  There’s definitely a bit more that can be wrangled out of the chassis.

Once you get her into one and she drives it, she may change her mind.Smiley Whatever you do, don’t let her buy a GT3. It’s not a woman’s car. She would look ridiculous in it.

BTW, the GT3 looks better in dark colors. Lighter colors only extenuate its bloated appearance. It really is a design miss by the Porshe design unit.

    Re: 992 GT3

Nick, she already drove the 991.2 GT3 and she loved it.

Today she decided to explore the GT3 and 240i xdrive Cab route. The GT3 as a daily fun driver and the BMW for her skiing trips and winter driving. She can’t have my Trackhawk because this is my daily driver.

Now only two obstacles have remained: Garage space and lease cost. I think both is manageable.

Final decision will happen in a week or two I guess, she needs the GT3 April 2022 (no sense to drive it in the winter, her lease for her current business car runs out Nov. 2021) and dealer has several slots, no issue here. I guess everyone is waiting for the GT3 RS. 😛

As opposed to buying an RS version to drive around San Diego? you can't make sweeping statements like that and  don't see what being a woman has to do with it, that's a little sexist, I actually find women driving driver's cars like a GT3 very cool.

    Oh well. I tried. indecision

You’re right many are waiting for the RS as I am. If the RS ends up looking like the GT3, then my association with Porsche may come to an end. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options for me. I may just keep my RS. I love the car. Best I have owned.

It is your prerogative not to like the design.  However, this particular type of vehicle is designed for a specific set of functional requirements including aerodynamics.  The Porsche design team needed to work within a framework that isn’t always conducive to what you consider optically pleasing.

    Re: 992 GT3

So they build a GT3 with a silly wing and then they bring a Touring version, which is much more pleasing to the eye and which is capable of the same? And in case of the 992 the rear has to look as bloated as it does? And finally they show up - as always - with a 911.2-version which improves all the drawbacks of the first version? If you want to believe that this is all functional, that‘s fine, I don‘t.

    Incremental improvement Smiley

I would expect the Touring to have a few changes to balance the absence of a wing. Otherwise it is truly only for show.

Same as 991.2 tricks, different suspension tuning and deploying tiny wingy from the rear with the gurney flap. the front splitter will not be adjustable and will be kept in the most neutral mode and job done.

My understanding is that the US-spec exhaust will be the same, except the filters will not have the chemical layer that makes them "work" and there is no O2 sensor right after the filter to ensure the output is correct.  So, it makes it easier to change to an aftermarket exhaust here (but no big power advantage will result - someone with a GT4 removed all the guts of the "filters" and it didn't improve power).  But you can make a nicer sounding exhaust without error lights or warranty problems (you keep the catalysts and "filters"):
