GT3 and GT3 RS both in March?
The GT3 is on 16th of February and the RS probably much later.
2018 White 911 GT3
Wife wanted a 992 Turbo S Convertible, now she wants a 992 Carrera 4 GTS Convertible. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up in a regular Carrera 4S Convertible. A 992 GT3 Touring Convertible would have been interesting for her as well but since it doesn't seem to come...
Everything comes down to lease cost and right now, Porsche is not cheap. I guess however that once the GTS is out, the Carrera S models will drop in lease cost.
We'll see...
911 for me? No more I'm afraid. I was thinking about the new Huracan STO but without AWD, not worth it (for me).
765LT if I can buy it with one Bitcoin.

When you look at cornerspeeds i think the R is worth more like 15 seconds.

The average times were Cup 2, 73.1, Cup 2 R, 71.8. The Laps Cup 2: 65, 64.8, 64.7, 65.1 Cup 2 R: 63.2, 64.1, 64.2, 64.4
1.3-1.5 seconds on a 1 Minute track so ~ 10 seconds on the NBR

Thanks for that. So, if you assume 10 of the 17 second improvement of the 992 vs 991.2 GT3 is due to R tires, then there is a 7 second improvement (or 1 second per minute). So, at my local track (~2 minutes), I should expect the new car to be 2 seconds per lap faster than my current car (that's a pretty significant difference).
More important will be how the new car feels - is it faster but less fun? Or maybe the new front suspension makes lapping even more fun (could be less understeer and more precision and less front tire wear from scrubbing). I would hope for the latter...

Don't know if we can take from an appropriate example, but if you looks at the lap time video from Kern, the car is extremely stable, no understeer, no unstable movements , no tire screech. Now it is maybe because he is a pro, or could it be that the car is just more composed then the previous. Too composed ? That could be taking fun out of the equation .

That's right, except this line:
"Hence the new GT3's time of 6.59.9 is theoretically quicker (by a fraction of a second) than the previous GT3 RS".
992 GT3 is actually 1.2 sec quicker than the 991.2 RS (not just a fraction of a second) when comparing same 20.6km lap and both on Cup R tires...

I do not care about a few seconds. I care about the fact that Porsche made it possible to put another n/a GT model on the market and that the weight basically stayed the same. We should embrace this car because in a couple of years, such cars will be a thing of the past.
In a couple of years, we are going to have EV sports cars available which will wipe the floor with the GT3 performance, on straights and on the track. Numbers don't really matter anymore, emotions and fun matter. You'll see.

I agree - but 17 seconds (even with cheater tires) over my car is a pretty big improvement, while meeting stricter regulations. In the US, should be easy to drop another 20 pounds and add sound, HP, and TQ (they told me impressive numbers on the phone and said they have dyno data) with aftermarket exhaust.

This is without removing Cats and Fake OPF (in the US)...

thanks to Michelin which did 85% of the improvement. Look at current emission numbers compared to 991.2 cars and you will see a whopping 50% in numbers increase. They will have to sell a lot of hybrid and EV to be neutral to avoid fines and issues in future homologation. That can also explain why the price bump.

I'm not sure why it doesn't matter "anymore". If it ever mattered, why doesn't it matter now?

You hit the nail on the head. That's why my next car is probably going to be a restoration of a 1965 Alfa Romeo GTA . I believe the expression is OMG .

One will learn more about car control in that 65 Alfa on the track than with a 992 GT3. The speeds of the newer cars are much too high to safely explore the limits of handling and to hone one's driving skills.
