Which place did you visit?
Jeeps, this was around 20 yr ago. I was touring in my shitbox Honda Shuttle
Drove from my house to a one night stop over just outside Paris, cant recall its location but they had a shopping mall opposite the hotel which had a great bakers but no damn sweet shop in sight. I was trying to find a nice bar of Cadbury. . From there we drove to Chamonix- Mont- Blanc, that was a two night stop over, again no sweet shop, or I didn't look properly.
From there it was over to Verbania Italy to visit my ex au-pair, she invited us. From Chamonix to Verbania we ended up on some mega narrow mountain roads, I should have gone through the tunnel but the Mrs did not want to, tunnels freaked her out . Think it stuck hours on my journey that day but going over the Alps was breath taking, beautiful sights. Only problem was finding a bloody toilet, none whatsoever.
I always remember thinking, if ever I own a nice sports car ( skint at the time ) I must do this trip. Doing it in the GT3 would be awesome

One summer I will, maybe the RT meet will happen and I will realise my fantasy .
