A freaking Williams have no business hanging out in Q3. Russell got that car up there twice now.
Red Bull probably wanted to sign him, but that would greatly upset Max as he would threatened Max's #1 status there.
Mercedes needs to sign him for sure. Lewis won't be around forever, this is the twilight of his career already, and Russell would be the perfect protege to learn race craft under Lewis.
Being chauvinistic as I am, I recon Max would have driven the Williams to Q3 as well...
Yes no, absolutely Max can do that. Same with Lewis. But after those two, I am not sure who else can bring a back marker to Q3.

Pointless sprint race IMO
So, after the hard work from yesterday, LH lost his position at the start...
Only one overtake on the top4 or top6 if we ignore Perez mistake.
Alonso did great but overall this race was boring.
Top teams scored extra points...
Maybe it would be better next year. The ''22 cars lose less downforce in dirty air.

Called that one from the beginning of the season.
The way Max do his banzai moves battling with Lewis all season, thinking Lewis is going to yield every time to him, eventually they will get together for a big one. This might be first of many for this season if Max doesn't want to give respect to other drivers on the track.
Max was weaving one too many times on both straights also.

I agree with you that Max is very aggressiv on defending, but in that case I Lewis will get a penalty... as at the particular moment of the impact Lewis was way behind and Max was on the ideal line...

So glad no injury. Lewis needed to do it for his reputation but he should be penalized. He did not stick to the apex which is a minimum action if not ahead at that point. But I totally get why he had to do it. No problem there. Same for the penalty though. They need to do it. It t like an intentional foul in basketball. Part of the game.
Ready for the restart. Will he run into the Ferrari next?

I agree with you that Max is very aggressiv on defending, but in that case I Lewis will get a penalty... as at the particular moment of the impact Lewis was way behind and Max was on the ideal line...
From Max's perspective, it is of no consolation to him even if Lewis gets a 10 second penalty, which he did, as Max is already out of the race. He can't score points if he isn't running.
Lewis understands that part very well, which is why he was backing off in the beginning of the season when Max went bargy bargy. It's better to finish a race and earn points than to be out of the race in the 1st lap.

Nah, Shumacher drove into Villeneuve on purpose, just like how Prost did to Senna, and then Senna returning the favour next year.
This is just racing incident, they both decided on a trajectory that overlapped. Max could have gone wider and Lewis could have gone tighter.
Max is getting zero. Lewis is on pace to get at least 15. Not a fair trade for Max being bargy bargy. Had he let Lewis through and kept second, he would still ended up with 18, or 19 if he gets fastest lap also.
If the Mercedes keep their progress, those 19 points could mean the difference in the constructor championship, or even the drivers' also. Max maybe forgetting he is trying to win his first championship, every point counts.

Not counting Hamilton's charge back up to the front, it was good racing today.
Leclerc was in fine form in the Ferrari.
Lando is again up there, still the only one scoring points every race.
Bottas seems to be in full campaign mode for his seat for next year.
Don't have the decision yet, but if Hamilton got a 10 second for his incident with Max, Perez should get one too for squeezing Kimi and causing him to spin during their get together.
It was so nice to see full grand stand at Silverstone, just like at Euro Cup, We are almost back to normal now.
The COVID thing will just linger on as just another flu virus. Nothing more.
Let's see if Mercedes' form keeps up in Hungary.

Lewis had more to win than to lose in that situation, he HAD to pass Max so therefore Max was not very clever to let it happen.
Charles Leclerc just said on SKY (Germany) that he had the situation of LH & MV in his mind and took the decision to rather keep +18pts than to risk an accident

Nope Lewis wasn‘t lucky he could have his race destroyed as well and like he said just after the incident on his radio „HE turned into me“.

You must have missed VER adding opposite lock to give HAM space. Given the speed and starting to miss the apex, HAM would never make that corner without understeering into VER regardless of how much space he gave HAM.

Do you really believe that any competent racing driver will try to turn into his adversary from that position?Knowing that his rear wheel might touch the car behind? At least a spin is guaranteed. And especially at those speeds?
Max was ahead and he believed Lewis will break. That simple. Lewis in the meantime had a grin on his face and acted like he was in a simulator/video game. It’s a classic/basic move to take out an opponent. Lewis knows that racetrack inside out. Lewis knew exactly what he was doing. Max was naive and Lewis was ruthless.

And in that very same footage about Max easing the steering wheel for some space, right after that he turned HARD to try and shut the door, trying to force Lewis to back off. Didn't quit worked out that way. 🤷🏻♂️
Honestly it really is a toss up, bot have faults and should have been called a racing incident.
Go rewatch the Post Race show from F1, Alex Albon was there talking about it, so did Jolyn Palmer. Alex was struggling to try and toe the company line. End result is both also thinks it's a racing incident and nothing more.
There was almost a carbon copy pass at the end with Leclerc. Difference is, Leclerc left enough room and so did Lewis.
Now that a precedence is set, Max in the next race could be even more aggressive and try and punt Lewis out, knowing if he comes out ok it's only a 10 second penalty which his car is more than capable to make up.
Stewards this year have been fucking up racing too many times.

At the end of the day that is racing... and guys like Lewis and Max are there to win, Max ix crying now that Lewis is celebrating his victory, but at the end of the day both where very very aggressive and when you play with fire you can burn yourself. I still think that Lewis was more to blame in that exact moment, but yes it was just a racing incident. And it seems that Max cant handle it. There was no intention to push Max off, that is very clear. I think that a new war has started today... but what would be F1 without any incidents...
