    Re: [2021] Formula 1

    Topspeed:

Max is not there to make friends it seems. He is very competitive.

Good job RB. 2 cars on the podium. It turns out, the undercut was very strong on this track. Ric won 2 places.

It's kinda funny to read forum posts when Max wins. Nobody talks about the car anymore...smiley which was clearly faster on this track. The car only matters when Lewis wins.

LH did amazingly well managing those tires and keeping a good pace. Bottas on the other hand...always slow.

    Ferrari went backwards...

Next up: Two austrian tracks. Two "easy" wins for RB.

    It not about making 'friends'.

The young guns all came up the system together, they all raced against each other one time or another. It's not like they are compete strangers to each other. Max on the other hand got this "I am Max, I am THE shit, you all aren't worthy" attitude going. Lewis sometimes has that vibe too, but he has 7 WC, he can act cocky at times, but Max hasn't win a single one yet. Even Nico has that cocky side, but he can as he lucked out and stole one from Lewis.

Max is a great driver, and this year he also benefits from having the fastest car on grid by a good margin. Championship is his to lose.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

I agree with you. I meant back in the days when they started racing, Max wasn't friendly for sure. That's his nature.

I never liked Rosberg. Now that he is in F1 Sky TV, sometimes he likes to make fun of Lewis and brags himself smiley

I watched The Silver Wars last week, to remind me of the 2016 season, and dispite Rosberg being very fast, Lewis car had alot of mechanical failures in that season. Rosberg was "lucky" to win the championship, and he knows it. That's why he left. Too much pressure from LH.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Last few years, Mercedes is the car to beat, and with the best driver Lewis behind the wheel, he delivered numerous blow out victories, literally lapping the field and such and also 10s, 20s, 30s seconds over even Max with his Red Bull.

The season still young, with Max getting the fastest car on the grid, let's see if he is as good as he claimed to be and deliver those blow out victories over the field and Lewis.  Right now, his winning margins over Lewis is only a few seconds if that over the course of a race. His car is worth at least 1/3 of a second per lap if not more, that's 20ish seconds right there but the winning margins right now don't quite reflect that. One could argue he spent an extra 25 seconds for the 2nd pitstop this past race and the margin would have been, like 28 seconds or so, but with fresh tires of course he can lap faster yet the margin isn't where it is expected.

This is going to be a great season to watch.

Actually I can't wait to see Lewis retires and have Russell and/or another young guns taking their seat in a top tier car and fight with Max. Russell is really something, taking a back marker Williams to Q2 every single weekend. Norris is another, he extracted so much out of that McLaren. Wonder how he is going to do if he gets in the Mercedes, or the Red Bull.

Gasly is doing well at AlphaTauri, but then again he also benefits from the strong Honda engine there and other RB benefits.

Leclerc is sort of stuck with Ferrari for a while, let's hope Ferrari get their shit together and he can join fun.

Great video, you can get it on youtube, just google Wolff Horner. Incredible level of access that the Sky Sports people have, best coverage hands down globally, and have to be up there on a relative basis across all sports??

    +1

MV making so many mistakes this year already, either in qualifying and/ or in various race situations.

He‘s very fast no doubt about it BUT he ain‘t pair to Sir Lewis who‘s really delivering every WE (despite Monaco). Even in Baku he was very close to both RB and w/o the magic button he would have won this race (buts don‘t count in championships).

I‘m really wondering how Merc could lose big time towards Honda in regards of engine power/ power management as they‘ve been the benchmark since hybrid area begun.

2021 could really be the best championship in recent years as Red Bull built a great race car and FIA took all advantages away/ banned them from Merc.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Wow, Bottas' mistakes keep piling up. One could easily think that he really doesn't care much about his team anymore. He's ignoring team orders, he's giving slip stream to opponents, he's slower as usual (in midfield), he's starting to bitch publicly on the radio, and he's spinning in the pitlane. Is it on purpose? What's wrong with him?

He's simply cracking under pressure which makes it easier for Toto to make the switch to GR next year (if LH agrees).

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Stupid pit stop regulations from the FIA,

So now that they found out Red Bull has the fastest car, they put in something half ass-ed to slow down the Red Bulls for 'parity' mail

It's fun watching them do sub 2 seconds pit stops. That's THEIR build-in advantage, gaining at least 0.2 seconds off everyone else.

It's like they are banning Lewis from driving with both hands cause he is the best driver out there and he needs to be penalized.

Totally agree, this new rule is a joke and do not make any sense.... I can't remember the last incident that was caused because a bad or to fas pit stop.... that is just Smiley

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Not to diminish Verstappen’s thunderous victory, this was the most boring race of the season.  Gentlemen, for next week’s race at the same circuit, bring your pillow and blanket.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Boring race as predicted. RB car is very strong this year and on this track at home is even better. Two easy wins for Max.

Perez nearly got 3rd position. Mercedes strategy team needs to wake up.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Poor Russell, he has zero luck.

The Red Bull car is impressively fast this year. It literally gained 30 seconds year to year. Going from losing to Lewis by 15 seconds to beating him by 15 seconds this year. The extra time for extra pit stop for fastest lap of course doesn't count.

There aren't really any major upgrades for this year as the teams are focused on the 2022 car, Mercedes won't have a chance to claw back the performance deficit. The narrow rear floor really hurts the Merc and benefits the Red Bull.

Red Bull car has great mechanical grip advantage, with that they can trim down the rear wing for even faster top speed, Mercedes might as well throw in the towels and regroup for the new 2022 cars.

Lewis will have to wait another year to go for number 8 as Max pretty much has the championship in his back pocket, barring any car failures for the rest of the season.

The number of "Mercedes circuits" is rapidly diminishing. Silverstone will be a yardstick. If Mercedes cannot dominate there then yes they will have to write off the 2021 season.

There isn't ONE Mercedes circuit before, they were just that far ahead with their split turbo setup.  They HAD the power advantage, which means they could trim out the rear wing and still be very quick. Most circuits outside of Monaco don't demand slow corner speed, well that's the traditional 'non-Mercedes circuit' together with Singapore. This year Red Bull cars took that advantage,

Lap time gains are from corner exits mostly, if one exit a corner faster, that speed advantage is going to carry all the way down. One reason Porsche did what they did with the 919, and the 918. They are just that much quicker out of corners, it doesn't matter if someone else could have gone faster for terminal speed, with a faster speed it means earlier braking and giving up that gain. it's clearly shown on how the 918 is that much more superior to the P1 on circuits.

Anyways, Honda has perfected the split turbo setup, on their last year in F1. Together with the floor change benefits, Red Bull cars can just simply corners faster and then put down all that power towards a higher top speed on straights and simply pull away from the competition. With the aero setup on Red Bull cars, they can switch on the tire quicker, which was an Achilles's Heel thing for Mercedes for the longest time. Mercedes are gentler on the tires but they don't have the speed advantage like before, hence why they are on the back foot.

This year's drama all and hinged on the floor change, The narrower rear section simply hurt low rake cars more than high rake.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

    Wow, impressive showing for Russell.

A Williams have no business getting into Q3, yet Russell got it up to P9. Even faster than Stroll. Stroll won't even get out of Q1 had he been in the Williams.

Norris is this  [ ] close to topping Max for pole. Extremely impressive consider the Red Bull cars are fastest in the field by a mile.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Indeed. Williams/Russell faster than both Ferraris...

And Russell will most likely start P8 and on medium tires. Vettel might be penalized for not giving space to Alonso.

Gasly, Tsunoda, Vettel and Stroll on soft tires.
