Apparently it's going to be real easy to get a PTS slot this time.

Are we sure these will be the only colors to be offered? If so, this is a huge disappointment. FWIW, as pointed out earlier, PTS is something Porsche is discouraging. They substantially raise the price of PTS to serve as a deterrent to people ordering it.

Also, what are the chances that the 992GT3 RS will be introduced around the same time or a very short period after the 992GT3? Porsche first introduced the Taycan Turbo and the 992 Turbo was introduced shortly after the 992 911.

Super boring colours as usual, although this voodoo-alike looks nice.

They’ll need to allow long enough for the flippers to take profits on the new GT3 before re-investing them on RSes to flip.. angry

My understanding is that Porsche has worked on the PTS process efficiencies and ability to handle large volumes and they now encourage PTS (and the large profits it should bring)...

I think they have removed most of the nice inexpensive colors in an effort to drive more sales to PTS.

Their parent, VW, offered a huge Custom color palette on cars like the 2019 Golf R for only $2,500

Yeah, if these rumoured high prices are true that should have a big impact.

Loved what VW did with that huge colour range. It should be possible to give people the ability to choose a colour they like. Come to think of it, the paint systems repair shops have are capable of matching thousands of colours from a smallish selection of base clours, pigments, etc. Would be cool to just choose any paint code and have the factory production line mix each car’s paint to order indecision

That’s the reason Porsche gave for increasing the cost of PTS.  All the different materials need separate testing to ensure that the color matches across the various parts of the body.

    Re: 992 GT3

Guys, what are your thoughts on the GT3?

I would really like to own the last 100% N/A iteration of a GT car. Not so much interested in a hybrid GT3 (for now).

I'm currently contemplating whether Porsche would release the facelift (992.2) as a hybrid or not. Do you think they still have time before 2025 (stricter emission laws in Europe)?

I think the upcoming RS will be the last NA, because it will be released even later.

    My dilemma:

If I buy the 992.1 GT3 now and then later upgrade to the 992.2 GT3 (if it's N/A again), then I would lose money in the trade-in obviously. The same amount as the price difference between the 992.1 GT3 and 992.1 GT3 RS. In this scenario I would be better off, waiting for the RS, however, the RS is still one year away, if not more...laugh and I've got the urge to buy something new now! mail

not leasing, btw. and I don't want to buy a used model later, so I want to make the right decision now.

    Re: 992 GT3

Gauss, you don’t want the GT3 nor the RS. If it is the last one you are after then you want whatever special RS version that Porsche will release as swan song for the last NA. As they did to celebrate the outgoing Metzger with the 4.0l RS. As great as the 3.8l is, it is the 4.0l which is the one to have. The two most desirable RS models out there IMHO, then it went downhill with too much electronics, RWS, PDK, etc. to get better lap times, not to necessarily offer a more involving driving experience.

Then again, for how many years have we been discussing “the last NA” and “the last manual” indecision Heck, Porsche even had to reintroduce manual as option. Talk about not understanding your customers angry

I'm hearing that the 992.2 Facelift GT3 will continue with NA power (probably the 4.2L from the 992.1 RS), while the 992.2 Facelift RS will be the first to add hybrid electrical assistance.

I know there will be faster generations, and I don't care. It's not primarily about the money either. I'm not buying this car to make money! I am planning on keeping it, using it on trackdays(!) and passing it on to my son later. It's really about getting the last kind of an era (100% ICE). I don't want to miss out on that and it's quite obvious that we are closing in. The emission laws in 2025 will be much too strict.

There will surely be a halo GT3, but that one will be too difficult to get. The last regular GT3 or RS would suffice.

It's comparable with owning a 997.2 GT3 RS. I wished I had one of those now that I would keep (and use) forever. Doesn't have to be the 4.0. However I don't want to buy one used now, if that makes sense...

btw Lotus are much more transparent. On February the 8th (day after tomorrow) they will announce the last iteration of their Elise, Exige, Evora lineup before they stop production in 2022. A last model run for all 3 called "Final edition". That simple indecision

    Re: 992 GT3

FWIW, yesterday my salesperson told me contrary to a year ago, the dealership is noticing a huge demand for used RS’s. I suspect it related to the last of the NA engines from Porsche.

Though I can’t point to any evidence, my feelings are were still a few years from Porsche jettisoning the NA GT car.

I would think it has more to do with the fact that there is currently a lull with no production of 911 GT cars at the moment (or quite awhile).

Grant, most that want a Porsche GT car probably are aware that the new GT3 will be introduced in a couple of weeks.

BTW, what concerns me more is that the salesperson hinted that the new management of the dealership probably will sell the new GT models above  sticker. He didn't know how much more but thought it would be considerable. For now its pure speculation but if in fact that occurs, I'm out. Smiley

    Re: 992 GT3

His narrative sort of says “sign for a GT3 now before our new manager marks up prices” and “there’s enough demand for your old RS that you will do well on its sale” Just saying he’s making it sound attractive to do either or both transactions with him ASAP, both of which would be good for him.

    Re: 992 GT3

I see your point. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way at least with my dealer. If they decide to add a premium to the GT cars, it doesn't matter when you order it. You'll be charged the premium unless you have a signed agreement with a total price with them. surprise
