Thanks everyone, just great to get out albeit for an all too brief drive. First impressions are it’s a fabulous car, more relaxed and comfortable than the Boxster, less sound from the engine but road generated noise particularly from the rear tyres is much higher, but then the T has less sound insulation than a regular 911 so doesn’t come as a surprise or disappointment. The seats are so much more comfortable than the sports seats were in the Boxster, the 18 way adjustments make a huge difference as does the SportTex cloth inserts that seem softer than the normal leather. Although many parts of the cabin are shared with the Boxster it “feels” much more upmarket, not sure how that has been achieved, maybe the silver GT stitching helps, which I really love, that and the SportTex and glass sunroof do lighten up the interior considerably. The fabric door pulls are a bit of a gimmick, but I guess a traditional Porsche GT car feature, not that the T is a GT 911 of course! I think I would prefer a conventional door handle to be honest. I miss the passenger side storage net for bits and pieces, as a free option surprised it isn’t there, and not available as a retrofit option either which is a bit disappointing. Ride comfort is firm, but the car doesn’t crash into road bumps and imperfections like the Boxster did, even in Sport setting. Very impressed especially as this car has the -20mm PASM Sport suspension. Ride and comfort has passed the critical SWMBO test, although we’ve not done any long trips yet. The navigation is much more up to date, clearer screen and really useful to have real time traffic information rather than out of date TMS. It also features Google Earth map display, or rather should as it doesn’t load the feature. Not a huge priority but will book the car in under warranty when I can to get it fixed. I had the car booked in for detailing and ceramic coating later this month, now postponed as driving 20 miles to have it done wouldn’t qualify as an “essential journey” under our strict lockdown rules. Rebooked for March, hopefully the situation will have eased by then, being black it shows every mark and fine scratch, so really needs some attention! The car’s condition on delivery was disappointing, supposed to have been ceramic coated, suspect it was never done, the dealer has offered to redo it free of charge but as their attention to detail was so poor this is the reason for having the work done by an independent specialist. Not the first time I have been let down by Inchcape, the group that own Porsche Centre Portsmouth who supplied the car and Bournemouth, our two nearest dealers, and the subject of an ongoing email “tennis match”
@ waiting for PDK - a short bit of history, the name New Forest doesn’t refer to trees but goes back to the Norman invasion and refers to “Forest Law”, the land was reserved for royalty for hunting. In fact King William II died here when shot by an arrow accidentally by Sir Walter Tyrell whilst out hunting in 1100.
