It has its wet mode which tones everything down quite a bit. It’s quite useful if you don’t want to think too much about feathering the throttle, it’s all a bit more mellow.

    Do you miss Olive, Frank?

Missing not, that might change once it's trackday season again. Although that would also be the season that the 812 comes into its own as well, roadtrips/warm and dry roads etc... Can't wait for that.

But trying an 812 now does serve to highlight that my natural preference would always be a Motorsports Porsche of some sort/vintage. The proportions are more manageable, and the cars themselves tend to fit you like a glove, I don't think twice when playing around with a GT3, you can't take the same liberties in an 812 obviously. It's qualities you take for granted if you've had them for too long I think. The best of course is to have both. Smiley

Porsche would never release a car like the 812 (huge PS, front engine, sports Gran Touring) without AWD.

Porsche are more for all round usability, whereas Ferrari are for a type of excitement. Or perhaps Ferrari drivers are more risky and Porsche drivers more conservative and risk averse.

Fantastic car this 812, even to look at. I wish Porsche made a front engine GT coupe using the W12 and the V8 turbo.

Ferrari drivers in the States tend toward the more risk adverse than the typical Porsche owner. There are only a small subset of Ferrari drivers, at least in the Midwest, that ever track their Ferraris compared to the Porsches.  Most, if driven,  are parked outside expensive restaurants.

Finally, we agree on something. Ferrari’s are not tracked. Nor do you see them racing on public streets. They are used to be seen and heard. Smiley

Nope, trackday for me is Porsche. I don't think a Ferrari can match the tactility of a good 911 on track. Plus costs are on a whole other level and much less knowhow around for setups etc..

Based on my experience, Ferrari's seem to bring out the worst in people. I have had tire caps stolen on two occasions and attempted bring in to the vehicle. Also, my home has been burglarized a couple of times while my Ferrari was parked in the garage.

So far the RS tire caps I received from Porsche haven't be stolen. Keeping my fingers crossed.surprise
