    So what was the speccing error? Come on do tell.

    It is something which every single other 765LT will have and differentiates it from the 720S, they made it a no cost option but you would not spec a 765 with it/them

    I wish..... try carbon fibre vented front wings, they were originally going to be a £££££ cost option so the configurator has them as an MSO option but because of the "COVID demand" they made them a no cost option. I didn't tick the box and my dealer guy forgot to tick his box, despite a discussion I had with him about whether I could get the vents painted gloss black but agreed to be happy with visual CF,  so I currently have the only 765LT in existence with standard 720S front wings mail

    9.338 seconds to cover a 1/4 mile at 150.8 mph

    half that distance took 6.081 seconds at 119.86mph.  A bit over 6 seconds to 200 kph.
    This illustrates how fast a car needs to be to go under 9 seconds.  An EV with more of a start advantage might be just over 150 mph- but just due to a good start (60 in less than 2 sec).

    Vid is below.

    To get that time he was using special Toyo tyres, had 100 octane fuel, very small amount in the tank and you can see how sticky the track is on the video, this must be a huge contributor to that 0-60 time....

    So that's 1/4 mile in 9,33 s at 151,34 mph in stock form.

    0-60 mph (with 1ft rollout): 2,11 s
    0-100 mph (with 1ft rollout): 4,40 s
    0-130 mph (with 1ft rollout): 6,80 s
    0-150 mph (with 1ft rollout): 9,16 s

    And for us Europeans:
    0-100 kph (without rollout): 2,45 s
    0-200 kph (without rollout): 6,49 s

    McLaren 765LT(official):
    0-100Km/h: 2,8s
    0-200Km/h: 7s
    1/4 mile: 9.9s

    Bugatti Chiron(official):
    0-200Km/h: 6,5s

    Re: Mclaren 765LT

    I like Brooks. He does fine work and provides a dose of Florida in the process. I recall his pricing the Chiron and how much each drag run would cost in depreciation and maintenance. The Mac is far more affordable- if that is a thing.
    I wonder if the sticky track and tires reduce the wear and tear on the braking system used for traction during the launch?      I would assume less interference so less wear.

    Actually he ran 9.3 on the Toyo R888’s and 9.4 on regular Pzero Corsas, not the Trofeo R’s. And the 9.3 run was with a couple gallons of 100 octane fuel which might be the contributing factor. I think the track prep was so good and sticky the Toyo tires didn’t offer much of an advantage over the Corsas on this particular day.

    I believe he said DA was around 600 ft by the time they actually ran the car, so I expect we might see even quicker times out of Brooks if he gets one of those days with negative DA.

    Re: Mclaren 765LT

    Let's not forget that a Dragstrip is gluey and such numbers can only be done with a surface that sticks like crazy. Anybody who walked on one knows what I am talking about. his numbers are not repeatable on normal clean surfaces.

    150 mph + terminal speed is indicative of some serious muscle.  Yeah it is a sticky surface but that by itself is not going to make a car without such balls hit 150.   I simply consider it the opposite of all those tests where rain or temp or altitude  or tire choice clouds the numbers. I prefer to optimize and get the real numbers rather than guess what would have been if conditions had been more optimal.

    On most cars, using race fuel doesn’t increase power (just makes sure you don’t lose power).  Do you think the ECU on this car is smart enough to instantly increase power over usual amount with 93 octane (without aftermarket tune)??

    BTW, Toyo R888 tires are not for drag racing, they’re road course tires (street legal and not particularly great - stock Trofeo R should be as fast or faster on track).

    I don't think it uses the brakes for the launch TC, the grip is modulated by ECU limiting level of torque being produced by the motor.

    The time is for the first 60 feet, not 0-60 mph time.  The first entry is R/T is reaction time and can be an adjustment between lanes (drivers) to determine which car is quicker.  Some timing tapes include the one foot roll out time too.
