    New Boxster MY 2005

3 engines: 240 HP, 270 HP and 300 HP (maybe turbo charged).
    Coupe version available (see picture).
Introduction around mid 2004, Coupe version around 2005.

    Cool Pic (NT)

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

Looks more like a computer enhanced image but it seems pretty close to the real thing.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

I thought the essence of the Boxster was top down motoring, but undoubtedly, the coupe will sell.

I'd love a lightweight mid-engined coupe version (clubsport)

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

I don't know where your picture came from, but I can say that this is not the next Boxster. Even though I have yet to see a real prototype, I have seen some pictures, and I think you will be blown away by the new look - one of the best looking sports cars I have ever seen!

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

Welcome aboard PCNA Insider please make sure you share some of those pictures with us, it would be greatly appreciate it.

    PCNA insider...

    Hello man,
As a PCNA employee (according to your nick name) what do you personally think
    a) of Porsche's strategy concerning the Boxster, i.e. not to replace it and change it slightly. Sales are still going down according to my dealer in Paris.
    Date for real replacement?
    b) of the Cayenne in terms of long term strategy (read the controversial threads on the Cayenne board and you'll see what I'm getting at)
    Thanks,
    Fanch.

    Re: PCNA insider...

I'm also interested in the 997. Can you tell if it will look more like a 993 with round lights ?

    CYA,
    Rufie.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

I can't post any pictures or marketing materials until they have been released to the public. Sorry, but I value my job.

The next generation Boxster might even win over some die-hard 911 customers - it's that good looking! Of course, that's my personal opinion.

    Re: PCNA insider...

I value my job and respectfully decline to answer any questions related to confidential information within PCNA or PAG.

My personal opinion is that Boxster sales will pick up somewhat this Spring (at least for PCNA). I really think that Boxster sales won't see higher numbers until the all new Boxster is launched. We still don't know the exact date for that either.

The next generation Boxster is stunning! That's all I can say. I wish I could tell you more, but....wouldn't be prudent.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

Any truth to the rumor that the next Boxster will have a Coupe Clubsport version (lightweight)? That would be a neat car!

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

IMO Porsche should add a Turbo version to Boxster family line.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

2005 Boxster wouldn't happened to look like this one would it?
Mini GT I like what I see

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

That would be VERY COOL. I love that look - would love it even more with a coupe body and weighing in at 2500 lbs with 300hp!

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

Looks great if you ask me. But I'm mot sure Porsche would jeoperdize Carrera GT sales with such a stylish car.

I think the next generation Boxster will look much more refined and stylish than the old one. I also think that it will get substantially more power, including a turbo version with way over 300 HP and more. The only chance to be able to avoid creating a Boxster which hurts 911 sales is to make two completely different products, especially when it comes to the design. Corporate identity yes but on future Porsche products, there must be clear and visible differences between the models. Look at Mercedes: they sell a SLK 32 AMG, a C 32 AMG, a CLK 55 AMG and they sold the "old" E 55 AMG and "old" S 55 AMG, all cars having practically the same power and street performance but completely different looks and a different character. Yes, I can even imagine a Boxster with a 400 HP engine, why not?!

Another example: the SLK 32 AMG has a much better performance than the new SL 500 but costs substantially less.
And the SL 500 still sells. Porsche has to seperate the Boxster and the 911 totally, they have to be completely different cars. The Boxster doesn't "need" the 911 anymore to sell, it is successful by it's own character, even if sales seems to have slowed down in the past.

I have to confess that I don't envy anybody at Porsche who is responsible for the next Boxster generation and especially it's design. I truely hope however that Porsche starts to be a little more courageous and avoids the mistake (from my point of view) they did with the Cayenne (too conservative, too boring, etc.).

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

    PCNA insider,
Is anyone involved with the new Boxster's styling in the States, I would have thought that no one outside Weissach sees the car at least 6 months before it goes public?
    Is the styling definitive now?
    Fanch.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

I'm guessing you got your picture from:
    Stern.de

    .............No comment!

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

    Sorry can't confirm that

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

PCNA does not have a design engineering department, but does have an after sales engineering department. So, PCNA does not have any involvement in design.

PCNA and PAG work very closely in many other aspects of the business. This involves frequent trips for employees between the two companies. Many times, PCNA employees get to see prototypes years before release. I actually saw a Cayenne in 2001. Many of our Service department employees and Dealer Support engineers get involved with new models very early on.

Hopefully, I'll get to see a prototype Boxster this year.

Hope that gives you a better idea of PCNA involvement.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

From what I understand, almost all of the planned Carrera GTs (about 2000) are already sold and there are no plans to produce any more than that. That leaves plenty of room for "mini" GTs.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

2000 Carrera GTs???... Wow! At first, they were talking about 1000 pieces, right? This is a pretty big number for a 'limited production' car, isn't it? Since the original price estimate was based on 1000 pieces, will this decrease it?

To me, this makes the CGT much less exclusive, doesn't it? Ok, the Enzo is much more expensive, but there are less than 500 of them. 2000 CGTs?... huh... that's almost mass-production...

    Greetings,
    --Pierre

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

    In reply to:
That leaves plenty of room for "mini" GTs

So we should look for something drastically different, right.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

That's roughly 2000 vehilcles over a period of 2-3 years. The exact number is little less than 2000. Keep in mind, these numbers are subject to change.

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005

So I assume they are plenty of Carrera GTs left to be ordered out there...
    Fanch.

    2'000 Carrera GT...

PCNA Insider, any rumors about the price? Will it be dropped from what was planned when the production was supposed to be around 1'000 units?

    Thanks and greetings,
    --Pierre

    Re: 2'000 Carrera GT...

Can't tell you much about the price (and I really doubt they'll lower it but I might have a rumor regarding power: as far as I heard, 600 HP minimum. I hope this is true.

    Re: 2'000 Carrera GT...

Thanks for the 'rumor', Christian... 600 HP min, huh?... Yeah, I guess they just had to break this barrier in order not to look underpowered compared to the Enzo... And going from the 558 that were formerly planned to 600+ is probably no big deal.

Boy, it's about time Porsche releases official info!...

    --Pierre

    Official info on Carrera GT...

Would be probably in March for Geneva Auto Show. Man, talk about a lot of annoucements Carrera GT, GT3, Turbo Cab. Just almost couple months away, Can't wait

    Re: New Boxster MY 2005
