Me too. 
Thanks Gnil, DJM48, and all the others for sharing. By the way, the NSW coastline is so beautiful and it will always have a special place in my heart. I hope life will be back to normal soon (without the "great reset" that you hear more and more lately...
) so we can fly back to Sydney and travel and live freely again.

Australia a good place to be at present.
"There were eight new cases confirmed nationwide on Thursday, five in NSW and three in Queensland, but all were returned travellers in hotel quarantine, making it a day of zero new local cases for Australia."
Evidence that pro-active public health measures work, Being an island is clearly an advantage but lockdowns earlier in the year have proven to be effective. Economic activity is improving. Minus the overseas tourists of course. Australians are travelling locally for a change and this is providing some balance to the lost of tourist $$.

It's amazing how few cases Australia has, even if it's an island, you definitely must be doing something right, in Europe in contrast its a complete mess

Almost summer.
It is not the weather which has brought COVID under control in Australia. We have had extremely low levels of community transmission for several months. Essentially zero community transmission in all states following a nationwide lockdown/work from home earlier in the year. Aggressive contact tracing and a largely compliant population have got us to where we are now. Economic activity is trending in the right direction.
The well publicised exception is the state of Victoria where lax infection control precautions with the overseas arrival hotel quarantine program led to an outbreak of COVID. This led to rapid spread through the non-English speaking families of the contracted security company administering the quarantine program and then a second wave into the wider community. Victoria had a second lockdown which ultimately got the state back to where they are now - zero community transmission for 3 weeks now.
The virus is extremely contagious. The best defence is aggressive public health activities until a vaccine is available - we are currently making 30m doses of the Oxford vaccine ready for distribution in early 2021 - clinical trial results permitting.
