Friday was last boots day: 8" on ground at the jump off, and 4 new inches on the truck on return. Breaking trail in deep snow in boots is .... good exercise, earns your beer.
Saturday first nordic ski day!!

In these slimy conditions, I could barely keep the raptor on the [dirt] road whether slippery mode diff lock on or off, and deep snow mode.
I lowered the Tyres from 38 psi to 34 and it seemed to help. I think the sand guys lower theirs, but input from denizens of the Frozen North regarding snow and ice greatly appreciated.

It is all in the tires . Do you have 100% winter/snow tires or do you have those all year round ones that are mostly good on gravel, mud , road ?

Agree with Gnil. Nokian Hakkapelitta LT2 tires with studs might be worth looking into, but clear pavement use would suffer. I used Pirelli Scorpion winters on a past X5 and no issue plowing through a foot or more of snow on public roads, but you might need the studs.

This is Selva. She has been saved from the streets in Spain and adopted by a friend in Switzerland. We went for a little walk the other day.
She is happily discovering the Jurassic mountains
And learning about edges , looking at the road 300 m bellow
She does not realize that the mountains on the back ground are the french Alps on the right, with the roof of Europe, the Mont Blanc at 4800m , and then on the left the Swiss Alps expanding all the way on the photo above
Verbier being at the center back of the valley
On the way down, moss forest , someone on RT will be happy
Hunter instinct, she has spotted the chamois

Seneca sends her blessings to Charlie, Umlaut and Selva. This is how we remember her: all muscle, vibrant and finally happy as she deserved to be, after the hell she went through. She knows what Selva went through.
