Wife is still thinking about it but she wants it as a business lease and Porsche leases are currently very very expensive over here in Germany. Lease companies have lowered the residual values of the cars, so people need to pay more upfront, aka higher lease rates.  Probably has also to do with the rising popularity of EVs right now and changing emissions laws, lease companies are just afraid they may not be able to sell the car at an "appropriate" price after the lease.

I expect the 991s GT3s to drop in price but hold up better than the GT3RSs. I expect the 992 GT3 engine to be such a gem it's a no brainer for me to get into ASAP.

It usually makes no sense here to lease a GT car because they are often more expensive than a Carrera or a Turbo for example. Last offer for a 992 Turbo S Convertible was now 3700 EUR per month (10k km, 36 months, no initial payment). Ouch. I had an offer for a 991.2 Turbo S Cabriolet more than two years ago for 2500 EUR a month and thought this is too much.

That's my buddy's McLaren in the back and I have to say it's a prettier car than the rsr which looks fat in comparison.

Oh boy, I HATE that track. I raced it, I never felt comfortable running on it. Turn 1 is not accident waiting to happen, turn 1 is how the accidents happens. A slight left on braking then a 180 turn the other way. 

At least the hotel Porsche put me in was nice. 

Anyways it's a handling track, power doesn't quite matters. The only place power matters is on the front straight. But even that the end of the straight matters more.

I wonder why the wing uprights are further apart on the CUP car compared to the RS. I know they are different wing blades but why is the design of the uprights so different?

The uprights on racing cars are welded to the chassis due to the amount of down-force the rear wing generates.

On road cars, the uprights are usually just bolted on to the engine compartment.

Thanks guys, that might explain why. However, the uprights on the regular GT3 are also further apart (and not welded to the chassis) Also, the RS might very well have the Turbo chassis, we don't know yet. The rear lateral air inlets may still be covered.

In any case I think the wing looks so much better (more coherent) on the CUP, the RS looks a bit funny

Speaking of manual (a little bit off-topic, of course ): My son is doing driving school right now and the owner of the driving school told him that he is the only one (out of 16 people) who wants to drive and do the driving exam with a manual. She asked him if he doesn't want to reconsider because they have only one manual car left and mostly automatic cars. Just saying...manual is a dying breed. My son of course still sticks to manual because he wants to be able to drive manual cars as well. I think this is a sound decision, even if I doubt he will enjoy manual.

Untill last year, In Switzerland , if you did your driver's with an automatic, then it stated in your licence that you are only allowed to drive automatic.

This year they have dropped that law and now you can do whatever you like. So basically all young people do their drivers with an automatic as it is easier. My son started driving school 3 weeks ago. I ''forced'' him into doing it with a manual. All his friends are doing with automatic. To me this is a sign government is pushing for automatic only, as most of these new drivers will then never ever want to drive a manual. 

When I go with  my son for   learning rides with an ''L'' at the back of the car, we take the 964  Yesterday, for a change we took the 997 Carrera S as he wanted to see how it felt driving it ... Got a few strange looks fro the other people on the road.

I think they wanted to drop the manual/automatic thing as well in Germany but as far as I know they haven't and what the driving school owner asked my son clearly indicates that.  I think he should at least learn how to operate manual but I'm not sure he will really need it in the future. Unless of course he becomes a billionaire and has a large car collection (his dream ).

This is supposed to be valid for old licenses as well. Maybe I should tell my son because this should facilitate his driving exam. Had the same dilemma with my son just about 3 weeks ago. Lots of arguing at the dinner table.  He likes to take the easy way and my wife was supporting him. Finally I convinced him, with force , that he does it in the manual . 

He ain't more stupid then what million of people had to do until now... he can do it    I wanted him also to learn manual properly, with the driving instructor. Not just vaguely later on.  He quickly realized it is not that much more complicated with the manual driving my 964 all over the place .

My son has his "Abitur" (high school diploma, Matura, etc.) when he is 18 and I do not want to add the stress of failing the driving exam to his school stress, so I actually would not pressure him to take the exam with manual if he doesn't want to. We'll see... Are there pickup trucks with manual?   Right now, after driving the G63 for a while, I do not know if a pickup truck is a good idea for a 18 year old. Too heavy, too big, just not "safe" in my opinion. It may not be a very fast car but he can cause a lot of damage and injury with a pickup truck.

Sorry, back to topic: GT3 Touring. My wife still doesn't know what she wants, now she is back to wanting a GT3 Touring Cabriolet.  She wants a wing though...   Oh boy, Porsche can never get a break.

I got my driver license 37 years ago learning automatic.

Then borrowed a friend's manual Honda civic and learned manual myself within 30 minutes.

Now I track my manual RS in advanced level group. 

I found it much easier to drive a manual car, then manually shift a PDK car, which I have to keep checking the screen which gear I'm in.

Back to GT3 topic, if there will be a 992 GT3 touring cabriolet with power roof, then I wonder if I should trade my Speedster and get some money back, as they basically are the same engine
