Excellent thoughts, as always. Smiley Smiley

I love the 765LT but cannot afford one right now (need money for investments Smiley, family and all). In my opinion one of the last monsters, everything else coming from other manufacturers will be some sorts of hybrids, EVs and whatnot. The 765LT may be one of the last dinosaurs and while I usually prefer cars with a n/a engine (exception are SUVs, I think huge torque numbers "fit" them well), the 765LT would be a car I would definitely add to my garage if I could afford it. Perfect Autobahn car, also looks amazing (much better than the 720S), what is not to like?!

Still some NA product to be proposed on the market for the next few years. as powerful as 765LT? no but much more emotional Smiley and way cheaper Smiley - I love this car though.it will be a track monster.

    Re: McLaren 765LT (blog)

This is why I would love to add the 765LT to my garage: The Performante for emotions and the 765LT when I need a monster (Autobahn or just having some overpowered fun). I drove the 720S on various occasions and while I can drive the Performante pretty well at the limit (of what is safely possible on public roads or some closed tracks), the 720S is a different story. This is a car you need to be careful with, unless you want to keep the TC in the safest position all the time and fight with traction issues (I have to admit however that you can barely feel these issues when TC is properly adjusted). Turn TC off or to a more sporty position and it gets very difficult to control this monster if you want to be really fast in curves. The 765LT will certainly be much wilder and much more challenging (I assume) and this is where the additional driving fun could come from. Unfortunately I think that for public roads, this car is overpowered but of course there is the Autobahn and of course it will always be a challenge to control such a car on a public road without making an ass out of yourself. The track is probably the better place to drive such a car but then, with all that power, you need to be careful there as well. I know a couple of crashed 720S because the drivers underestimated the power...and the brakes (too fast acceleration can result in braking too late if you aren't used to this monster). Smiley

The issue with "over power" and traction control is an interesting one.  I remember the 599 GTO which was basically the first car I drove that was basically undriveable with the traction control off.

    Re: McLaren 765LT (blog)

I haven't checked: Do you own a F12 tdf or did you ever drive one? This car scared me (I was in the market for a used F12 and had the chance to drive the tdf on a closed circuit), it was basically impossible to enjoy the power and I still don't understand why. Smiley

Ive driven a couple of F12s but never owned one.  Not drive a F12 TdF thought but suspect it would have the same overpower issues as the 599 GTO.

    Re: McLaren 765LT (blog)

F12 is considered tame when compared to the tdf. Ferrari deliberately tuned the tdf to be more of a hand full with the rear.

Think they tuned the 812 to be 'safer' than the F12 even with more power.

I haven't driven a TdF but I found even the regular F12 a little lairy. Fun but tiring.

Yeah that's the first thing I noticed when I first got my F12. tdf turned that dial to 12.

Yes, I think they changed the tuning of the Rear Axle Steering for the friendlier behavior of the 812 (easier tuning made possible with the addition of electric power steering)

The F12 is a wonderful ride and not really worse than any RWD AMG. The tdf is a completely different beast, scary (at least for me). Even my tuned GT500 was easier to drive. Smiley
