Lol cause I can't be bothered to take some 'nice' pictures. And no matter how nice those will be, Porsche has better ones.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

It is a very good sports sedan, borderline on being a sports car. The car has no trouble being handled by me spiritedly. Looks, feels and drives like a proper Porsche.

It just happens to be an EV. Not because it is an EV. Very clear distinction there.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

So after a few days of driving the Taycan, day and night, I can safely say that curved screen remains highly legible no matter the light condition. Surprised myself too as it doesn't have a hood. But that display is so good that it doesn't need one in the first place.

The centre console screen however, is the worse thing to be put inside a car. Fingerprint magnet and with that sloping angle, the fingerprints are highlighted.

it is also at the right angle to be touched when I want to use the upper touch screen, many times I have put the car on max A/C while using the upper screen.mail

Seriously, can we go back to using safer physical buttons?

it doesn't matter if it's a car person or a tech person reviewing, the Taycan will always comes out on top.

Tesla can only come out on top if a Tesla person reviewing the cars.

Notice no mentioning of the 'autopilot' thing or lack of on the Taycan, it's not important even to a tech guy.

Wow - I thought Boxster & SUVs were the Porsche saviours!

(still waiting to see if any deals are likely on 992 Cab - may try mid November)

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

Yep...new Taycan is selling better than the 911.

I am not surprised that the 911 has issues...overpriced, underpowered, many customers don't care about Nordschleife track times. angry Also, the 911 was the typical business sportscar in Germany and other countries, now it seems the Taycan has replaced it. Makes (kind of) sense.

If Porsche decides to provide good lease offers for the Taycan, I may be tempted too end of next year but looking at these current Taycan sales numbers, I kind of doubt that Porsche will provide any good lease offers.

    So back to Tesla...

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

I won’t read too much in the August numbers. The Taycan is a new model. Also, it’s not a lot of cars sold for all of Europe. That said, I hope the car is a success. California just banned all new vehicles sold in the State that aren’t EV by 2035 with certain exceptions.

A good memory is fine but the ability to forget is the one true test of greatness.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

This could mean the 911 EV will be delivered sooner. I hope

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

Just a personal comment, not an opinion. I seriously considered a Taycan turbo, but ultimately chose a 992C4S.  So glad I did. I don’t need the extra four (and very small) seats, and wanted a smaller, more personal car. Will probably change my mind the next time around.yes

    The law is pointless.

It just means people will be setting up shops right across the border at Nevada or even Oregon where there is no sales tax selling titled new cars as used.

If California is serious about fixing the air quality, they should be banning old cars instead. New cars are way cleaner than older ones, and also cleaning than any commercial vehicles.

The law is pointless because only EVs will be for sale as new cars by 2035. Good luck finding anyone investing in ICE cars or making them. Lucky if you find gas. It will be due to free market not rules and laws.

you really do live out of touch with reality regarding EVs... 2035 is only 15 years from now... it is precisely the free market that will keep manufacturers making ICEs because customers will still demand them, I know it's hard to believe in Tesla world but most people still prefer ICE for a variety of reasons. Hence the law, only way that is changing is if ICEs are banned and people are forced into EVs, which won't happen either.

I think Leawood has a point. California is a huge car market, and manufacturers have to respond to its requirements. CARB’s policies are a de facto standard, even before this latest announcement.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

As I understand it, the ban is an executive order by the governor, not a law agreed to by the California legislature. The order also asks that agencies develop regulations, which will certainly be modified or opposed. An ambitious order, but one that has yet to stand up to opposition and modification. Nick, if I am incorrect, please tell me👍

It is a big deal and it isn't. Mentioned before, this is for new car sales, have to be electric only starting 2035.

Did not say anything about used cars. And how one defines 'used' car. So the requirement can easily be sidestepped. It will spring up a whole new industry for people titling out of state new cars on paper and sell the 'used' one to Californians.

California is a big car market, forgot top something in the world by itself, so it does have quite a bit of bargaining power to dictate what to come.

But they are doing things the wrong way around. Instead of going after the biggest polluter first, they go after the least Smiley

It is also possible that California will change the law again - when they realize that 100% EV does not make sense Smiley Honestly, 100% EV is nonsense and will always be inefficient (given today's battery technology and the anticipated battery technology).

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

Like I said. It will not be the law which forces people to go EV. It will be like it was for me. A no brainer.  Car companies will retool and make more money making EVs. They will be considerably safer and cheaper not to mention much faster than ICE cars. People will not be able to resist and investing in an ICE car in 15 years time will seem foolish. Even Porsche is committed to 50% EV by 2025. This is in four years now. Not 15.
And you guys will hate this - ICE cars will never be capable of self driving.

Keep drinking that cool-aid Leawood... reality for those that don't is different however, many try EVs and are underwhelmed unlike you, specially for sportscar fans there is no substitute for them in EVs, many can't charge the cars at night, many can't afford a long range EV that can match an ICE's autonomy/price, and so on.

Porsche said, 50% EV "and" Hybrid by 2025, which is totally different than EV by 2025. Hybrids are ok.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

Smiley Couldn't agree more, Nick. Let's get rid of the old cars as soon as possible. How? Governments should offer tax incentives and maybe even premiums to buy new cars and to put old cars out of service.

Also, it makes sense to electrify heavy trucks and maybe even city buses, same goes to delivery services like Amazon, UPS, DHL and others.

The whole EVs and ICE stuff has become, similar to the current pandemic, a political thing. Conflict doesn't solve environmental problems of the future, compromises do. If you want people to get onboard with green tech, you need to make them believe that it makes (somehow) sense. Forcing people will not work, not in modern societies.

Better yet, just have government nationalize auto production and give everyone a government sponsored car that fits the clean air and no noise agenda.
