The point is, what does it matter... A Lambo driver would never be tempted by the Turbo S and vice versa, as long as you enjoy what you drive, who cares about seconds? yes

Correction, I think these two complement each other really well. Smiley

You mean: you need the Porsche whenever the Lambo is with the dealer for repair Smiley

Actually, my Performante is very reliable (almost 13000 km now).Smiley

I was just joking Smiley Times have changed, the Italian high-performance cars are much better than in the past Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Even Ferrari is quite reliable lately (from what I heard) but Lamborghini has Audi engineers working with/for them, so the synergy from VW Group has certain had a very positive effect on quality and development. Unfortunately, it may also be the reason why Lamborghini has been stuck with that crappy Aventador auto gearbox for so long, cost considerations. What a shame.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

The big difference in trap speed for the 1/4 miles means the 720S is making a good chunk more HP than the Ferrari.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Why is the 765LT (1.46,2 min) slower than the 720S (1.45,5 min)? The 720S with Track Pack / Trofeo R had a very well balanced setup with perfect traction and a good drivability. In the 765LT it was the opposite. First problem: Entry oversteer when the steering input is a tiny bit too sharp (You have to work very, very sensitive on the steering wheel at the corner entry). Second problem: Less traction and snappy oversteer during accelerating out of the corner.

    Why is the 620R (1.49,4 min) slower than the 600LT (1.48,9 min)? Less topspeed in the 620R than in the 600LT (Parabolica: 600LT 271 km/h, 620R 259 km/h).

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I don't get McLaren: Instead of making the 765LT the ultimate track machine, they made it another "tdf" with way to challenging driving behaviour. It makes no sense. It is one thing to give the car way too much power (720S) but then adapt the chassis, traction control, etc. around it but a completely idiotic thing to put more power into the car and make it less drivable. Where's the logic in that? Smiley Smiley

Even pro drivers seem to dislike this setup, this should give McLaren a lot to think about.

Color scheme doesn’t suit the car in my opinion. How much does it weigh?

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

They are going for the competition race car look for the road, and to me on the road it just looks silly, it is very easy to look like a poseur when driving such a car on a public street, while on the track it's exactly the opposite effect imo, looks the business on a track and is probably a handful, only for serious drivers.

Car is a limited edition product for McLaren Beverly Hills.  There’s plenty of preening peacocks in Southern California who are more interested in posing and signaling their perceived wealth versus how the car performs.

It's considerably heavier than the Senna (I can't remember the number, but over 50kg more, I think)

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

To be honest...I wish McLaren would have made the 765LT drivable like the 720S. Then the 765LT would be the ultimate supercar, no need for a Sabre or whatever.

Reports from owners of 765 is that it fantastically drivable, feels like ultimate visceral 720 with heightened feedback and of course the extra pace and manic sounds, this car was not built to beat the Merc BS on the track, it is a car for fun on the road even at slower speeds, interestingly it is about 10s quicker than Merc BS in 200-300kph !

I do not know who this Jas is but maybe he didn't push the car hard enough? Smiley

I haven't driven the 765LT yet but the one person I know who owns one, is happy with the car as a product but the driving is, according to him, quite challenging vs. the 720S. Yes, he knows how to drive. Smiley He compared the driving behaviour a little bit with the F12 tdf.

All those negative track reports cannot be wrong, unless McLaren has changed the setup of the 765LT, which of course cannot be excluded. I doubt it though.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

The 720S has traction issues... Unless of course you love drifting. Smiley Smiley  There is a reason why so many 720S were involved in accidents immediately after it came out.

McLaren did a great job with the TC setup but try this: Track mode and ESC Dynamic. Which is basically Corsa on modern Lambos. Then try to follow me on some curvy mountain roads. You'd be shocked how little traction your monster has. Smiley I drive my Performante in Corsa mode only, even when it rains or snows. For a reason. The AWD does wonders, the ESC is basically non existent, I am in total control of the car (very analogue drive feel in Corsa), unless you really try to defy physics (which of course won't work, not even in a Lambo Smiley).

For a 720 hp car, the McLaren has an amazing traction control setup, not even Porsche comes close to it (they tried with the GT2 and almost nailed it though). Turn ESC off completely and set it to track mode and then good luck putting all that power on the ground but I guess with ESC completely off, most RWD cars will start to "dance" at a certain point. Smiley

When it comes to RWD and turning ECS off, probably the most dangerous car I have ever driven is the Ferrari 599 GTO.  As soon s you turn the ECS off, it tries to kill you.

My little baby is going to get a service.

Thanks to the excellent service from McLaren Stuttgart (Dörr group) the service will be done during the cold days. From my home to McLaren Stuttgart we have only 30 km but they always pick up the car (thumb up for the service).

As soon as we get beautiful weather my blue baby is ready for a ride.
