I just saw one in the metal a few days ago and at least from a design perspctive, it looks pretty good. The proportions come off very boxy on pictures but it has an elegance in person that's very nice.

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

Funny how Lucid Motors cheated a little bit by fitting 21" wheels for handling purposes when in the canyons but 19" for the range demonstration.

The Lucid Air is an absolute dagger into Tesla's heart. They better go back to the drawing board to design a proper interior. That interior is gorgeous. It's an interior I don't mind looking at day in and day out. Much better execution than the Taycan.

I would definitely pick it over a Merceds EQS also. Not that I am thinking about buying a EQS.

Do I pick it over a Taycan? Tough choice. I would get both. Porsche is selling the Taycan as a Porsche first, EV second. The Lucid Air seems to have trumped a Taycan in every way possible, will see how good it handles as compared to the Taycan, it would seems it's a good match. But it's missing the all important Porsche badge.

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

I must say I love the Taycan, it is really a great Porsche/EV, but I really love the LUCID, this car amazes me in so many ways. The specs are on point with the LUCID and compared to the EQS everything seems better, and I love the design of that LICID also better than that of the EQS.... to be honest I am thinking of putting a deposit on that as you can do not for Austria.... The only questions that stays are: How the build quality will be (as Teslas are heart) and: How the service will be for such a new company....

But I really love what I see... I really dont understand why established companies cant get such specs and also design. mail

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

Not sure if it is cheating when Lucid fits the smaller wheels on its range maximizing variant and the larger ones on its performance model.  There’s no sleight of hand when it is completely disclosed by the manufacturer.

The interior is redolent of design details from the previous generation Audi A6/A7 which is not a bad thing.  The only reservation is is it too late for the car?  Many of the mainstream automakers are entering the EV market with a plethora of product, essentially rendering Lucid to niche player.  That’s a shame because this car had much potential.

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

Old school interior and fugly rear end.  Priced to compete with Porsche. They can’t catch a break. Maybe they can sell some if the waiting list for Tesla is > 12 months. Lol

Let’s see if they actually deliver cars and when.

Buddy you and I are on the same page!Smiley

The interior is very fitting for the price bracket they are going for.

I think they can see the bad examples Tesla's been setting for build quality and servicing, and will adjust accordingly.

If they build it right, there won't be much 'servicing'. The Taycan is not due for any service work for 2 years, unlike the 1 year interval of normal Porsches for example.

I'd hate to have to replace that windscreen from a rock chip!

We're at a place in life where that's not enough room for the primary car and bigger than a 2nd car daily driver needs to be. Still might get one though.

It's a properly modern and nice interior. Even the screens are well thought out and designed, instead of just slapping some rectangular panels onto the car. The centre one is especially trick, retracts to reveal a hidden storage bin.

The only bad thing in the car is that big wraparound front windshield. Of all things they could have copied from Tesla, they picked the worse bit.

Exactly. The interior is horrendous- dare I say retro Buick.  The pricing and looks don’t spell sales success. Keep in mind this is a new maker and you expect perfection.
The truth is that some here would talk up anything just to make Tesla look bad.  Let’s see how that plays out Smiley

From a couple of low-res images you're able to ascertain that it looks like a modern-day Buick. That's mighty perceptive.    It's doubtful at Lucid's pricing point, seasoned auto executives would allow similar material choices to a much lower priced Buick.

On the wraparound windscreen design, this is much appreciated by the taller driver who must constantly crane one's neck to see traffic lights.

    burlappcar-mercedes-sclass-1.jpg

Here is a 2021 Mercedes S-Class, look at that awkward screen in front of the steering wheel. Mercedes just randomly stuff an iPad there and called it a day. Almost like after they designed the car, they forgot about the instrument cluster and let's just put a boring rectangular screen with thick border there.

    2021-E-Class-Sedan-Interior-2.jpg

Same with the E-Class. At least the mound the dash around the awkward looking dual screens.

    2021-mercedes-c-class-interior-spied-in-detail-looks-insane-137157_1.jpg

They did the same thing with the new C-Class.

    2021-mercedes-benz-a-class-sedan-dashboard-carbuzz-458444.jpg

A-Class is another Mercedes product with awkward placement of sad looking thick border rectangular screens.

    mercedes-benz-eqs-interior.jpg

It's not like they don't know how to do integrated screens, look at the new EQS interior.

I think I still prefer the clean looking Lucid dash than any Mercedes ones. One reason I haven't had a Mercedes for a long time. Their interior design sucks.

Oh Leawood, not everything is about Tesla, what I had in mind when talking about boring un-styled rectangular screens are the current Mercedes interior, not the Tesla ones.

The central horizontal trim element that curves up at the sides, with the buttons coming out of it, are very reminiscent of the 992 interior.

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

I on the other hand love how they've done the interior on the S-Class, as ever taste seems very personal.

I personally MUCH prefer the new Model S interior compared with both the Lucid and Mercedes S. The S class looks kind of over the the top and busy with this porn club lights and mix of materials. But in general I prefer minimalism and modern architecture in my house. The Tesla interior language fits this perfect. The angle of the screens in the S class and lucid is also from a practical/usability point of view not that thought thrue. The angle of the screens make it mor prone to reflections and is further away to reach. Each to their own I guess, but It seems to be a lot os traditionalists that like these kind of over designed stuff with busy colors and too many variations that was popular in the 90's.

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

About design we could discuss years and years.

Tesla is more minimalistic like Braun https://pin.it/6wPLnne

For me none of the three are appealing me to much. But if I had to choose I would take EQS.

I don't mind the rest of the cabin, as usual their fit and finish and material usage are top notch, comfort too. S-Class has always been the benchmark for a reason.

There was this one guy who went out the house without pants and no shoes.

    He called it minimalism..........

Comparing a Tesla interior with anything Dieter Rams or Bauhaus inspired is a disservice to those movements. Offering less is not minimalism, sticking to only what is necessary and doing it in a way that's both technically sound, and aesthetically pleasing is. A Tesla is not a minimalist vehicle because it is more sparce. Millions are paid for an F40 that has a cable for a door handle because it's a car built only around what matters to the endeavor of driving.

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

    Enmanuel,

A counter argument: no screen at all in front of the driver.  A heads up display with speed and range is all an electric car needs.  Buttons (or a small central screen) for ventilation and music controls, plus a central screen for all other controls and menus.

    Re: [2021] Lucid Air (900v, 113 kWh, 1080HP, 517miles(832Km) range)

Good concept except heads up displays sometimes wash out under certain lighting
