When I drove my Panamera Turbo S, a 210k EUR car, most people I talked to believed it was somewhere around 100k EUR. angry This is already a lot of money for many here.

But at the same time, when you pull up in a lowly 360 Modena worth maybe $70k, they assume the car is worth at least a 1/4 of a million.

Not really...new price tag of my R8 is almost 216k EUR (215560 or 215760, don't remember exactly). Smiley

My Panamera Turbo S was also fully loaded, carbon everywhere, Burmester, everything.

Funny story: The guy who bought my car from my dealer was a used car sales man and he said that he rarely saw a car so well equipped and tastefully optioned. Smiley He sold the car after two years and now he regrets it. Got himself a new S63 AMG and hates this car. Smiley

Well, used Panameras are holding prices incredibly well (even 250 HP diesel versions) and there is strong reason for that (along with badge). IMO Panamera is best handling 4-door vehicle you can buy - period.

Well, I think the current (old) design had character without being outlandish. As RC remarked, his Turbo S didn't really raise eyebrows among his neighbors. The new one looks a little curvier than an A7 (in pics) but it's just not that interesting to look at. I never disliked the "hump" and never really understood the aversion to it, but I guess it's gone for good now.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

The original design was totally fine. The issue is that the car doesn't drive better than a Cayenne, seats only 4 and is way too expensive...

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

Very nice design, a real improvement.

Well, I driven both the Panamera and the Cayenne on track and I would state there is a substansual  difference in the driving experience. 4 seats ok with me, but I can your point. Price wise I totally agree with you (surprise...?!indecision).

My dealer is trying to get me in to the diesel since I have other cars for speed purpose, but I don't know. Diesel Porsche......???cheeky Panamera is NOT a LMP1.........yes

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

Just watched the Berlin premiere on the Porsche newsroom.  Incredibly clean lines, very different from the old model.  I did have the feeling--and it was just a feeling--that the car is more generic, a bit like a rounded off Aston.  But in person, I think the more unique Panamera design will be more evident.  If I can figure a way to post the video, I will...

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

Watched it too, love it! The new headlights look really nice, similar to the Cayenne ones. The CEO stated that there will be 2 performance plug-in hybrids.

Sorry, the link above is still showing that a "rebroadcast will be shown shortly".  So much for my tech talents.  I am sure some of you hotter shots can figure it out.

They are different on the track? Maybe, but for road driving, two mildly boring vehicles not really above the competition...

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume presents new generation Gran Turismo

Grand appearance in Berlin: world premiere of the new Panamera

Berlin. Today, Tuesday, Porsche celebrated the world premiere of the new Panamera in Berlin to a spectacular display of lights, music and choreography. Over 300 international media representatives – as well as guests from politics, business, sports and society – saw, for the first time, the second generation of the Gran Turismo, which has been redeveloped from the ground up. The new Porsche Panamera reconciles two contrasting characteristics more than ever before: it offers both the performance of a sports car and the comfort of a luxury saloon.

“We have tapped into the segment of luxury sport saloons with the Panamera. Since it launched in 2009, more than 150,000 units of the Panamera have been sold. In the new model, you see here a completely redeveloped automobile – with new engines, a new design and new technologies. Also new is that we are now manufacturing the second generation vehicle entirely at our Leipzig production site. We have also invested a sum of 500 million euros – which includes a completely new body manufacturing facility,” emphasised Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.

The design language of the new Panamera creates a link to the Porsche 911 by its even more dynamic flyline and specific design elements of the sports car icon. “An observer will immediately recognise the coupé-like roof line, but now it is much ‘faster’, even more dynamic and now includes a new side window look that emphasises the coupé-like side view even more,” said Michael Mauer, Head of Style Porsche AG, who explained the design targets that were set for the new model: “The new Panamera can be made out at first glance as a Panamera, but also as the new Panamera. Its strengths have been reinforced, its weaknesses eradicated and above all its character preserved.”

The new twin-turbo engines of the Panamera are more powerful, and thanks to the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK II) they are up to 16 per cent more fuel-efficient. At the beginning of November, the Panamera will launch on the market with three different engines and exclusively with all-wheel drive:
as the Panamera Turbo with 550 hp, the Panamera 4S with 440 hp and the Panamera 4S Diesel with 422 hp.

For an even larger spread between comfort and sportiness, the Panamera now has such features as a new three-chamber air suspension, rear axle steering and the new electronic 4D Chassis Control chassis management system. Many new assistance systems also enhance ride comfort as well as safety.

In the new Panamera, Porsche is also introducing a future-oriented display and control concept. The new Porsche Advanced Cockpit with its smartphone-like user interfaces and configurable LED screens impresses with its intuitive functionality. In addition, the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM 4.1) offers an entirely new range of connectivity by its intelligent digital functions and online services. In the new Panamera, which customers can order now, Porsche Connect is being introduced in all models. It extends existing vehicle functions by adding digital services and apps such as those used for remote control of certain vehicle functions by smartphone – and others to more efficiently use one’s time during the drive.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

My view so far? They basically took a 991 rear, headlights, bumper and sloped rear and all, and a Cayman front, with four doors in the middle.

So there is nothing that stands out as ugly because of it (unlike the previous gen that looked like it was suffering from ankylosing spondylitis) but those looks from it's sportcar brother's on a larged sedan's proportioned body results in a somewhat bland and conventional look. They used already stablished looks by the other sportcar models and used very smooth uneventful lines and elements to bring it altogether...They basically played it very safe with the new design.

That said, it looks very good! I would have hoped a bit more agressive imposing design though so that it would stand out  more over a BMW, Merc or AUDI.

You will have to play with colors, wheels and options to give it a bigger presence and IMO sportier look.

So, it looks like the hump was eliminated by making it a bit longer. (Based on the slider view they posted of new and old.)
