Next-Gen Porsche 911 GT3 RS Possibly Spied On The Street
The crazy wing and fender vents scream RS.
(25 August 2020)
Is this our first look at the next-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS? Two photos from janerikslooten on Instagram for CarPix is all we have to go on, but there sure is compelling evidence that we’re looking Porsche’s hardcore track machine. And it’s not simply because of that absolutely bonkers rear wing.
We’ve seen GT3 test cars quite often in various stages of camouflage, but it all amounts to a wrap concealing small details. Those cars have a wing similar to the ginormous spoiler here, but they are a single-wing design. This dual-wing is larger in all aspects, and it uses a slightly different mount from the other test cars caught on camera.
Looking lower, the rear fascia with its center-exit exhaust is also slightly different from previous GT3 sightings. The front view clearly shows the fender vents along with other vents on the hood, and the front splitter looks slightly larger. Below is a photo gallery showing the standard GT3 for comparison.
Could Porsche simply be testing another wing design, or even testing a new wing for its motorsports efforts? Possibly, but the fender vents and extra bodywork around the fenders and rocker panels are a dead giveaway that this is actually a GT3 RS.
Other 911 GT3 Sightings:
Thus far, we’ve spied two versions of the GT3. The standard model is identifiable by its large wing, while the GT3 Touring takes a milder approach with a smaller, electrically deployable spoiler. Both cars are expected to pack an upgraded version of Porsche’s glorious 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, which could generate upwards of 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts). That’s a mind-numbing figure for such a small mill with no turbos, and the GT3 RS would likely offer the same engine with the track-focused aero package to make it an absolute road-racing demon.
We’re holding out hope that Porsche will unveil the GT3 by the end of 2020. The GT3 RS, however, likely won’t appear until 2021.

Kobalt:I like wings - but this looks like a wing with a car attached :-)
If the wing is for real: How much power do you guys expect the RS to have?
I'd say 550?

Gnil raises good points about the frunk and the missing side intakes.
The 997 didn't have side intakes, but had it behind the rear window. This one however doesn't even have it at the back...
Oh, it must be electric
maybe it's a test mule for the wing in a GT3 body (but with RS front lol).

Yikes. Looks like I may be wrong and this this thing exists in the real! I was so hoping it was a fakey. I think I would struggle to get my head around owning and driving this on the street....

P.S. there seems to be alot of misleading Camo on the hood. Maybe it has the 992 GT3 front scoops and they have covered them and added those panels above to confuse onlookers?

I also would bet on 550. 525 for the next GT3.
The wing will look much lighter and less massive on the final product. You can see it is covered by camo on different places, making it look much more passive then what it is. Still it is positioned so f...g high !!! The car will look like a race car for the road, and not anymore like a road car make to race.

Here is the video of the mule, sorry to say but the height of that wing looks ridiculous on a street car

The wing is too racy looking for road driving.. However, I don't know what % of owners use their GT3 RS on the street for traveling other than to drive to the track
I suspect the vast majority of RS owners are track enthusiasts and have other 1 or 2 cars for regular use.
Also, it could be that Porsche will extend the GT3 range with more variants, the one pictured above being the most extreme.

In all seriousness, you can see it's not (or the rear diffuser should be deeper). But wouldn't be surprised to see something like that some day...

Also interesting a bit that the rear window and 3/4 windows are totally blacked out.
Also the vents on the front have the forward portion taped off from the looks of it. Either repurposed hood, they are trying out forward or rear placement and haven't decided or maybe the front taped off portion will be active like a Huayra?

Agreed. A few use it to cruse some boulevard in London or LA ,and those will like the high wing even more.
But for most these cars are track toys. Mainly driven to , from the track. I would not mind to drive it on the public roads in those circumstances.
Seems they are pushing the RS more towards track, which is great. GT3 probably is the one to have for more street use. And Touring if only street use

Gnil:Super Darius:can i tell i'm first on my dealer for the RS?
if it isn't out of my pocket...
So, how many years to wait
I am pretty worried this thing might become very expensive .....
in fact ,the more years the wait is long, the better is
i think will be around 250k euros with some options...(220 was my green one) ,270k euros with weissach package
