Thought about that too; however, the Sian retained the traditional V12 format starting with the Countach, this one does not. Every Lamborghini mid engine V12 supercar since the Countach has been built with a transmission in the center of the car with the engine hung out behind it. Power is transferred from the transmission through an offset shaft along side the crankshaft to a rear differential behind the engine. That layout makes it difficult to install a double clutch transmission as it is too wide to fit in that configuration.
The Gallardo and Huracan has the transaxle configuration of the transmission and differential located behind the engine. Therefore a wider transmission fits well without interference into cabin space. This car also has that configuration. The launch video also speaks about a new carbon monocoque structure. From an economic and technological standpoint this configuration would allow the Aventador and Huracan replacements to share numerous components ranging from the central monocoque tub assembly to the dual clutch transmission. This is the same approach McLaren uses for its cars; however, they also share similar V8 engines. Lamborghini will retain the V12 to differentiate the premium model from the entry level one.

Yep, they found a new way to make money, promote the brand and make some diehard collectors and track addicts happy. There will be a special track club for these cars, owners can also keep their cars in a special hangar next to Lamborghini in Sant'Agata Bolognese and they can even watch their car 24/7 via a live video feed. Lamborghini takes care of the cars, they take care of the training and everything, quite cool if you can afford this kind of stuff. Only 40 cars will be made and sold.
I already know a guy who gets one (hint: he is from Munich).

Believe it or not but I rather think this is the new Aventador...

Believe it or not but I rather think this is the new Aventador...
I thought so at first, but at a second glance I think they are just too similar.
Take a look at the second pic, there's an Aventador in the same colour in the background, the perspective is identical for both cars. They just look too similar as if the one in the front could be an all new model, don't you think so?
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.

I still believe this is the new Aventador and I assume that the front will be more different than the current one.
There isn't much they can really change, the current Aventador is already a design masterpiece, they have to be careful not to destroy the line flow.
Unless of course Lamborghini decided to put another special edition model on the market but in my opinion, this would be a huge mistake now. They already have trouble selling the SVJ Coupe, why in god's name would they add another limited edition model to the mix.

I guess they will make alot of sp€cial €ditions until it is unveiled.
Actually, it was supposed to come 2021 and 2022 was supposed to be the year of the Huracan successor but with the Corona situation and all, I wouldn't be surprised that time schedules have changed.
The car in the photo looks weird but I doubt that Lamborghini is crazy enough to offer an Aventador Evo based on the old platform. This would be just ridiculous (but of course I cannot rule it out).

Aventador No. 10,000: a new production record
Lamborghini sold 4099 units of Murcielago, ~2500 units of Diablo, around 2049 units of Countach and 764 units of Miura.

Yes and no. Performance-wise, very likely. Sound? Well, I think that it will be muted with the hybrid and the PF.

I would always get the SV or even better, the SVJ (a piece of art, I just love looking at it) but truth to be told, these cars are more for enjoying the whole package than to achieve record performance numbers, even if the SVJ certainly isn't slow on the track.
Lamborghini (aka Audi, aka VW Group) made a huge mistake because they didn't give the facelifted Aventador a new proper gearbox. Another mistake was the way too high production numbers for the SVJ and SVJ Roadster. Too many.
For the current price tag, the Aventador is not competitive, I hate to say this. The SVJ is a beauty and I think every serious car collector should have one in the collection but this is not a car which is capable of competing with a 765LT for example or even a 720S. What the heck, up to around 200 kph, even my Performante is (slightly) faster, I already embarrassed two SVJ owners and trust me, they weren't happy. Over 200 kph of course, the SVJ drives away but this is not the point. The SVJ coupe starts at around 410k EUR... This is almost SF90 Stradale territory. This is 75k(!) EUR more than a new 765LT costs (and the 765 is faster, much faster...at least on the straight line).
With the next generation, the cards will be reshuffled and I hope that Lamborghini learned from past mistakes but I'm worried that VW Group influence and cost cutting could actually hinder Lamborghini to build the next Aventador this car actually deserves.

- "interesting" side story - we have a Michelin star restaurant just 50m away from us - somebody came with a SVJ one night (I could hear the unique Lambo sound) apparently 3 households called the police.....- this is the time we're living......

Welcome to my world, which according to some here, seems to exist only in my head. 
I adjusted my driving accordingly, didn't have any issues but I have to say that I really have to pay attention not to offend people, which is sometimes pretty annoying because it contradicts my usual driving style.
My son (who hates EVs) said one clever thing a while ago: "You know the only good thing about EVs? You can go as fast as you want, accelerate as fast as you want and nobody will say anything, it just doesn't attract attention." So true.
I passed a police car shortly after this and they followed us for at least 10 km (I intentionally changed directions to see if they are following). I turned the driving mode to Strada, just in case. My last (and to be fair, first) encounter with the police regarding the exhaust sound took almost 30 minutes of my time but of course there is nothing they could do, everything is street legal and certified (still good that the car switches to Strada mode shortly after you turn off the engine ). Keep in mind that I am not the type of driver to fully accelerate from a stop or to play with the throttle while waiting at a stop light. I think they would have shot me on the spot if I've done that.
Just a few years ago, nobody really cared. Now everyone watched those hundreds of news reports about "killing speeders" or read about them in newspapers, so whenever someone accelerates, people start to look angry.
We have to thank those AMG/Lambo/Porsche/M BMW guys who love to show off and do everything possible in their power to attract (mostly negative) attention. You can find these guys every weekend night around my town and many other towns/cities. Sadly.
