Porker:It's interesting to know what Muc and Ger disagree about.
Issues why the car was delayed, Muc collector is pretty p.ss.d.
I'm referring to the spec of the cars, not the cars themselves. Matte black E63 with red accents, ///M stickers, ... It's all a bit 'look at me'. That doesn't take anything away from his driving or whatever talents he might have.
GerCollector is young(er). My son adores his E63...

Sounds like your son is old for his age. No kid should care about an E-Class, no matter the spec

There has always been a following for these so called "Q cars" (UK term I think).
High performance and a modest, not pretentious exterior. I like such cars myself.

I bet you don't have kids who are into cars.
The E63 S is a symbol here in Germany, especially for younger people. Don't ask me why, I never liked sedans, got the E63 S only because it was a great deal, a fast car and I needed the car for family travel. The GLC63 S is the much better solution now but my son doesn't like it too much.
Same goes to the BMW M2, M4/M3 and the Audi RS3. M5 has lost a lot of it's appeal with the young folks since the sound got capped.
In other countries, this may be different but in the US, it is pretty similar. I remember the praise Vehicle Virgins got for his E63 S.

I was just teasing - I would have killed for a car like that as a kid

I guess this pic confirms that the Black will have tuned 4.0TT, rather than 6.2L NA motor in the GT3 racing version?

It is a flat-plane 4.0TT, revs to 10k rpm as far as I heard.
The 6.2 you cannot get homologated for the road anymore, let alone with 720hp. I'm sure from a technical perspective it will be a fantastic thing but god have they ruined a beautiful car. Perhaps there will be a wingless version (as there was with the SLS black).

The GT did. use the 4.0 TT before, didn’t it? Only the GTE race car kept the SLS’ engine.
Then I assume the video that was posted recently from the NBR showed that car with a flat-plane V8? At least that’s how it sounded to me.

Interesting - that should make for a compelling upgrade to the GTR-Pro (beyond adding boost)

It does, most flat plane V8's do, in my opinion.

Not surprised that it would sound like an A45. A flat plane V8 is really two four cylinder engines sharing a common crankshaft.

Not a 1:1 comparison but the GT350 V8 (NA engine) is also flat-plane and sounds good. The BS has twin turbos so the sound is muted of course...but still a big difference in sound.
The AMG GT BS is a special car, it should have a better sound IMO.
I guess we can blame the OPF
Kobalt:Thanks Grant!
Wonder how many laps you can do on the Ring before needing to go to the gas station... Have they increased the gas tank?
Good question - with those numbers it will be more thirsty than GT2RS (but at least it doesn't need water also)...

All the Ferrari V8's have Flat-Plane also and some sound great (like F355).
Mustang does not sound as good as F355 imo and this is due to a different cylinder firing order...

It seems weird that AMG would go to a Flat-Plane while leaving the redline so low at 7,200 rpm. The reason to go Flat-Plane is for the higher redline it allows (Porsche 918 9,150 rpm, Ferrari 458 9k rpm, Mustang GT350 8,250 rpm, McLaren 8,500 rpm, Corvette Z06???).
Maybe they just wanted it to sound different than all the other 4.0TT that Mercedes and AMG uses...
