Re: Cayman GT4 & 718 Spyder -- Pistonheads review
Thanks, well explained. That's how I felt driving GT4, a 991.2 C2S. and C4S recently. I know the 911 is quicker, and when left in auto, the PDK is amazing, though it takes away some of the fun of driving. I also love the GT4's gearbox, and the rev matching is ton of fun when driving through an underpass.
I'm not sure if it was the tires, but the GT4 felt a bit more playful in the rear than the C2S as well. I had more confidence in hard corners in the 911s than I did in the GT4, but maybe that will come with familiarity. The choice for me at the moment is the C2S or a GT4. I felt the C2S to be the more exciting car over the C4S for reasons I can't really explain. They were similarly equipped, and both had PDK and PSE.
The GT4 feels like the perfect weekend backroad car, with the occasional short road trip in the cards (when we can do that again), and the 911s felt more civilized, and more practical, marginally. I think you would need to drive them harder to get near the same level of fun that the GT4 offers and that can cause it's own problems.
