Have you guys made hotel bookings? If not I can arrange for you to stay at my friend's place (Grant stayed there once).

Have fun, guys!

I hope day 1 has been great and that day 2 is coming along well too. It was great almost meeting you guys again :-)
Excuse me as I hijack this thread so I can share my experience from last week.
I came to a very dull and slow Nürburg on Wednesday last week.
Did great TF on Wednesday and Thursday. Joined Pistenclub on Friday to practice with my VLN car (BMW325 Class V4).
During the two first days Corona was very present. Very few cars and few people. I was the only person having breakfast at Tiergarten. It was traveling to Nürburg in the winter. I expected Thursday to be more "like normal" as Thursday was a German holiday. Track was open almost all day Wednesday and Thursday. Kind of depressing.
Then came the turn around: Friday - trackday. Suddenly Nürburg was in full bloom: Old cars, new cars, motorbikes, people - a lot of people!
It was such a big change and it really made the Corona depression go away :-) (People generally respects the rules around Corona.)
In the end I made 78 laps during my long weekend. Few cars, few bikes, few rentals, few closures, no taxis on track: GREAT DRIVING!
Saturday morning the Nordschleife was closed for TF: Instead there where old classics pushing hard. Such a joy to see and hear :-)

werner:Fantastic photo - tells a great story!
Looking and listening to these classic cars is always fun but driving them (as a passenger, they can be fun too) is not really fun, at least I didn't enjoy "my" two really classic cars (356 and RR Phantom II from the 30s) I had the pleasure to drive myself. Not sure if my Austin Healey experience counts too but it wasn't really better.
The only "classic" cars I enjoyed driving were the 964 RS (is it OK to already call it a classic?), the Ferrari Testarossa (can't help it, it was my first Ferrari and first supercar I had the pleasure driving and it just stays impregnated into my brain forever) and the Porsche 928 GTS (may be a classic or not but this car was really ahead of it's time in my opinion).

Again a fantastic trackday with the boys, and nobody tried to kill eachother once again, strange!

Why would you want to kill each other?
It is nice to have a "good" driving group, makes the whole stuff much more fun without people with knives between their teeth.

Didn't you say that was the risk with real life meeting internet connections? That you had bad experiences in that sense?
I can assure you Dave and Gnil are rather lovable creatures IRL.

You are lucky or maybe I had bad luck but when someone tries to follow you to your private home, well...
This was a long time ago, by now you may have learned that I already met a couple of fellows here personally (incl. Carlos, schmoell, Conny997 and others and my experience has been excellent.

Have you checked their cellars?
I usually do not meet with strangers but when I like someone and I find more neutral location for a meet, why not?!

... only because he didn’t install the full MR kit on his car yet. Then it would've been the other way round.

Great story, thanks for the summary. The good side of a dull Nordschleife is that you have the track basically on your own. How often can you say that?
Is it your first season in VLN?

I think Tim Morley was only that fast because he had Shmee with him in the car and he wanted to finish the lap as fast as possible.

Think I got in Lars Kern’s way a couple of times, too. He would appear from nowhere

I wanted my friend Shmee to have a good time 😁
At the beginning of his video you can actually see a few Rennteamers wandering in the back ground. .. you also can hear and see a very famous olive green and loud GT3 😄

Nice meeting you and Dave, I hope the second day was as good as the first one (better in Dave's case), and thank you again for the passenger lap!

Red flagged, twice.
I had to coast through Flugplatz and on the kink before Bergwerk and that did the trick perfectly luckily. I have to say the Manthey events are unbelievable in their efficiency and level of service, almost all participants drive well and respectful and the technical support is impeccable. I complained in the morning of 'terminal understeer' (in hindsight I was just not awake yet and forgot to properly trail brake in the corners) , and immediately the car was jacked up and front ARB put to its softest setting which indeed helped (along with waking up). Fantastic company!
