A New Home to My Italia

Since my old, long and multi-post story 458 thread had been gone to trash, I open a new one:

Here is a little update of my car, It has been 3,5 years since I delivered it in October, 2012.

The car is at 15.400 km. After many track days, my ccm rotors have been shot, again. I burned the yellow color of my calipers, especially the rears.

So I decided to repaint my calipers and while doing it, decided to change it is yellow color to gold.

I also re-furbished all of my 4 ccm rotors, second time and install a new set of pagid rsc1, front & rear.

I changed the rear wheel hubs, because they lost their strength because of my track driving. Also changed my power steering pump. Finally repaint my OEM wheels and put them back with titanium wheel bolts. Furthermore, I updated my ECU & TCU with the latest Ferrari software. The latest update should be for Euro5b exhaust emission, like Speciale because after the software update, 200cell HJS sport cats triggered the check engine light which was non-existent with the previous software. The shifts, especially the downshifts are changed significantly; much firmer now. I put back my OEM cats and un-installed 200 cell HJS cats.

    Here are a few pictures:

Re: A New Home to My Italia

Now the most important update: I had decided to export my italia back to Germany last year and today, I finally pulled the trigger. Sent the car to the custom for the export paper work and hopefully the car will be in Germany in the beginning of June. Then I'll fly to Germany and register the car there.

    There are couple of reasons:

    1) I can't drive the car in Istanbul as much as I wanted anymore. Because there is always a traffic jam, the enveromental issue and the roads are getting worse and worse.

    2) I haven't registered the car in Turkey in the past 3,5 years because of 189% tax.

    3) With the tax, the car costs a little more than 500k euro and the 2nd hand market prices are around 300k euro. So you lose more than the car's netto price in Germany.

    4) I want to drive the car in central european roads ie Swiss, Italy, Germany etc.

    5) I'm establishing a company in Germany and want to spend as much time as possible there.

    6) I won't buy a sports car in Istanbul again. It is one of the worst places for motorsport hobby.

Re: A New Home to My Italia

    Little update on the matter:

Last week I was in Germany to finish the custom/tüv and registration issues on the car.

The VAT is paid and all the custom work is done. Then I made the Tüv for 2 years. Everything went nice and clear.

However, I couldn't get the 4 months custom (zoll) plates because first, the car had to be registered BUT we couldn't register the car because it is EU5 exhaust emission so it was not shown on the system. Now, my friend try to find a way to make the first registration of the car; all papers were sent to KBA.

My car, now, have a new Stable Mate Smiley

So here is my question: Has anyone known or made the first registration of a EU5 or EU5B car in Germany after Sept. 1st. 2015? Because this law came into affect after Sept. 1st, 2015.

Thank you. Smiley I also WISH to have a Speciale BUT the prices are too high. The list price of my car was 189k euro (without VAT) back in 2012. The list price of a Speciale I would have bought with the right options (only parking sensor, 4 point harness, painted calipers, alcantara mid. tunnel, auto dimming mirrors etc) was around 204-205k euro (without VAT), back in 2014. So with a 15k euro extra (which I already spent on BMC airbox, excessive brake wear etc.), I could have bought a Speciale IF I waited for the car 2 years more. Now the price difference is roughly 100k euro which I find unreasonable.

Re: A New Home to My Italia

Onur, I think you need a "Einzelabnahme/Technisches Gutachten" from the TÜV or Dekra.

This could be a problem if your car is equipped with non-OEM parts, careful!!!

Maybe you are lucky and you find a Ferrari owner with the same car and same MY who has done such a thing, this could save you money. Otherwise, this could get expensive if there is no "Vergleichsgutachten".

    Christian,

I removed the 200 cell HJS sport cats and put back the stock OEM cats back. I also re-flash my ECU with the latest Ferrari software and now I think it is EU5B (with the new software, the car triggers cell because of the 200 cell cats; old Ferrari software was OK with the sport cats). So my car is BONE Stock except the BMC Carbon airbox. We chat a little with the guy who was doing my Tüv. He loved my car and he also has an Audi S3; so basically he was a car guy. At Tüv, they also tested my exhaust and I got AU (I don't know its name; it is a green paper) and passed perfectly from the other criterias. I now have Tüv approval till June, 2018.

My friend is working on the registration issue. He is in car import/export business. I will see how it turns around.
