Been shorts weather since 20 February - whenever it gets above 40 F... And this last Friday in the shot only 38 F at 8000 ' so hard for long pants to be needed. Life is too short for longs

There's very few nerves in one's legs so cold and superficial cuts aren't much concern. When you get near the Beaver dams, their teeth leave the willows quite sharp so when you wade through.....
But it's lots of fun!

They have a freezer full of Dog Tucker, as the Kiwis call it: Lots of steak and burger from a 2013 steer. They live large and spoiled. I love them dearly.
Still too deep at the base of the pass - don;t think we'll ridge out for a month, even though it;s 80F and the melt is on.

When we came down Friday from 9500', the river crossing 13 miles in had doubled in depth from the melt in 4 hours. When we got home, 13 miles downstream, the River was smokin'. I was clearing logs and threw one in that Sir Cosmic Messenger went after - had to jump in and kick some snags loose to save him. Thanks to God for the easy lesson, just bloody but alive and so relieved to see him climb out 150' downstream.

Tried to hike across to your place today . Couldn't pass your ridge , had to stay on my sunny side. Not much snow left here, but we are only at about 2400m Life is back, full of flowers

Lovely Eric!! We only have flowers in the lower hikes, and last couple weeks it was pretty seeing them surround by failing snow
