TB993tt:Can you say more about the spacers ? Are they for aesthetics, Who supplied them ?
It must be aesthetics - you know that McLaren has form follows function and all is related to aero and so.
So McLaren engineer had found probably the best compromise between aero solution, traktion and over/understeer.
My old Porsche needs optically also spacer and I have asked Porsche classics what do they think about. The answer was clear, best aero and best cornering is without spacers.

One noticed that the sidewall of the rear wheel extends beyond the wheel well. While this is not permitted under federal regulation in the States, it also hampers aerodynamics as it increases turbulent airflow off the spinning wheel, and detached side airflow to the rear of the car. The increase in drag, while minor, is still measurable and it could have an affect on the center of pressure distribution.

Yes, agree with the comments also I remember Whoopsy commenting that the Mclaren CF tub couldn't cope with bigger wheels hence why none of their cars have bigger than 11" rears with 305 tyres (I think) which made me wonder about the added stress of the increased track from the spacer ?
Does look pretty damn cool
997 GT2 2014 3.9 Mezger, 800PS @ 1.2 bar
2018 McLaren 720S
993 Turbo, 2006 built 3.8, 577PS/797NM, 1440kg DIN sold to a worthy enthusiast.
Its for optics but also for driving dynamics. I had them on my 12c and it helped on corner entry due to the wider track. Its the Novitec Set with 11mm front and 15mm back.
Also watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFycDxzFOC about Spacers.

Does having installed spacers affect your warranty?
When you're going through hell.....keep going.
I actually just posted up an article comparing the 720S Spider to the 650S Spider

Spacers are always a bad idea, especially on modern cars with modern traction control and adjustable chassis systems.

hunterone:They come direkt from McLaren Munich so no warranty issues.
Caution: The fact that dealerships install third party parts doesn't mean there cannot be warranty issues. I do not know how McLaren handles this in Germany but Porsche for example is pretty anal about it. Same goes to Mercedes or Lamborghini.

Great that you did the comparison
I also felt that the 720 is massively (!) more refined than the 650.
While I think the 650 is way behin a 991.2 turbo s in terms of road connection/drive feel the 720 is now best of class. The 650 just felt utterly disconnected from the road. Also the brakes in the 650 did not convince me at all, pedal feel that is. Seat comfort/interior space is much nicer in the 720, as an additional benefit.
What I am trying to say is that to me the 720 felt much, much better than the 650.
The 720 seems like the best deal in that price range and probably in all price ranges as it is so nicely usable.
The 650 is a joke...straight line performance is good but the car is no fun to drive. This was actually the car which put me off to want a McLaren, I was more impressed with the 570S and most impressed with the 600LT (price/value, performance, looks, etc.). The 720S is a gentlemen's hyper car but myself, I would rather see in a 765LT.

McLaren and a McLaren dealer are two totally independent companies. In the end you will be very alone if something happens (do not know what could happen). The dealer has no right to extend the warranty from McLaren.
My dealer (same as the Munich) has done a lot of things but they have explicitly told this to their customer that they do not have a warranty.
In the case of spacers the risk is very low but who knows??

I had the 650 s spider before and for sure it is not a joke - that comment is pretty ......
The 720s is also for sure the better car as each model is better than the previous one.
The 650 s is more connected to the road then a 991 turbo it is not a 991 gt3 rs but it is more connected then 991 turbo. The breaks where good - I did not have any complaints.
The only thing which I hated was the seats in the 650. After driving 2 hours you get a pain in the back. I didn´t find any seating position or setting to feel really comfortable for a long journey. The 720 is better but far from a 911 seat.

hunterone:It dont think the guys who are complaining about 650s road connection driven the car extensively
If I drive a car for 3-4 hours I know enough to draw my final verdict In this case it was clear: the 650s was far below my expectations.
After driving the 650s I went back into a 991.2 turbo s and immidiately thought: what a much better car Porsche built here... No kidding.
In case of the 720s it was the opposite of the 650s. I admire how the 720s feels and what McLaren achieved with it. Excellent product.
P.S.: Of course the 765LT will be outstanding as well, but I did not drive it yet so I cannot write about it

Have you driven a 675LT?

315 rears to be exact. Not unlike the 991s, where Porsche really have to work to be able to fit 325s in the rear and 265s in the front.
It's just about McLaren's initial design envelope, their platform wasn't designed for anything bigger than 305, the 315s on the P1 was sort of pushing it, but those Trofeo Rs actually fits narrower than regular P Zeros so they were fine.
When they redo the platform next, they could go bigger and allow 325s.
But seriously, that 12C platform is really flexible, literally every car they made is from it.

hunterone:It dont think the guys who are complaining about 650s road connection driven the car extensively
I drove the 650s on a couple of occasions, including a 500 km ride in a used one my Lambo dealer wanted to sell me. The car was a real bargain (under 100k EUR with under 20k km) and it was really worth the money in my opinion.
What can I say? Fast but not as planted as expected. Like Markus said, the 991.2 Turbo S drove better in my opinion, also provided more traction. I liked the 650S, for under 100k a real bargain, no doubt.
My favorite McLaren are still the 600LT and the Senna though. I would add the 765LT to the list but I haven't driven it yet (not even sure I'll ever get the chance this year).
The 720S is an amazing offer from McLaren but it reminds me too much of the 911 Turbo S in the emotional department. This is just me and people have different tastes when it comes to cars.
I was also thinking about a 675LT at a point, my jeweler sold his at a "bargain" price because his back hurt badly and he didn't want the car anymore but I missed the chance because he didn't offer the car to me. Not even sure I would have had the money at that time though.

Would have loved to meet you...enjoy your drive back home and drive safely. I am pretty sure that one day, we are going to do some sort of "corona free" Rennteam meet somewhere in the Bavarian/Austrian/Swiss region.
