I know I'm probably the only one here but I like my cars quiet, even the sport cars. To many fart can hatchbacks around, I enjoy the stealth approach.
When leaving in the early morning for a trackday, I have to push the Donkervoort to the end of the street to start it up ffs. Thank god it's a tiny lightweight car.
I hate those farts and never understood why people love them.
The E63 S I had was not farting, it was shooting (like a clear pistol bang), which was pretty bad in tunnels, I always had two bicycle riders fall off their bikes, they were pretty pissed, so I stopped accelerating in tunnels.
The worst "fart" of all cars had my 991.1 Turbo S: It sounded as if someone or something was hitting the undercarriage of the car. Worst exhaust sound ever and this was years ago. I let this car go after only 6 months, guess what I took instead? Right: A 991.1 GTS. With a nice little button in the footwell, a gift from a friend.
I love how Lamborghini solved this problem with the Performante: In Corsa mode, hell breaks loose, with all the noises you can imagine, not only exhaust noises but gearbox, everything. Once I enter Strada mode, this is a whole different car, you have to experience it to believe it. I always switch to Strada once I get close to home but I'm not sure it always helps. A friend who lives in the neighbourhood was gardening in his garden when he heard me...I was around 2 kilometres away at that time.
