Porsche Taycan Turbo owner completes 11,000 mile drive across Canada and the United States.  Range was over 200 miles per charge even in the coldest parts of Canada, and it does get cold there.  No issues with charger availability either. https://insideevs.com/news/404931/porsche-taycan-turbo-road-trip/

Talk about avoiding Kansas!  Nice road trip though. Right up my alley. Certainly does illustrate the it is possible to get by with an EV. Even a Porsche. Lol.

now why did not I think of this?  My type of fun exactly.

Why did I drive a race prepared 904 GTS from the docks in New Orleans through Mississippi in the heat of August in 1969? Because people are crazy sometimes, that’s why.

That’s brilliant sir! What a lovely story to share... Smiley

See the old issue of Porsche magazine, particularly ODE to CRAZY which I wrote about the trip.  Go ahead and start laughing now about my 70s hairdo and my bellbottoms.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

Great story!  Reminds me of the old orange 914 I had when I was turning 16 back in 78. Great times.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

Well I have canceled my order for the TaycanTurbo. I had in my contract to clause that the car should be delivered before 30th of April. I was one of the first to order the car way back last year. I ordered the Turbo, before the 4S was on the market. To be sure I was getting one of the first cars. The car was supposed to be produced in December 2019 and delivered first week of January. First postponed to beginning of April and then beginning of June delivery. I find it very irritating that Porsche is delivering more Taycan 4S of customers which order later then the Turbo customers. Now the production of Porsche is stopped for 2 weeks further delays will be very likely. I called my dealer and asked him since the car was so late I could change the order and add the 22 KW charger and head-up display (once available). If this would lead to a longer delivery time I would not mind, since I am waiting so long anyway. According to my sales person this was not possible, since the car is already locked for production! So, I decided to cancel the car.  I am quite sure Porsche will try use a “force majeure” clause to push me to take the car. According to my lawyer under these circumstances a “force majeure” can be used as a consumer to. We will see what’s is going to happen. Perhaps after my cancelation Porsche will be will to change the order and I will take the car anyway.

No reason is necessary.  They just wanted to do the trip.  It’s no different than why would someone drive their Ferrari or Porsche just to get a Starbucks coffee.

Once this lockdown is done I will seek to do the same. Also doubt I will have a job after all this.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

I always wanted to do a road trip across Canada, in my 918.  Doing the USA is just a bigger version of the round trip.

His Taycan is A LOT MORE COMFORTABLE that's for sure.

Just bought my 18 year old son a new Subaru BRZ.  A cool handling little product, reminds me of an early 911.  No monster accelerator, but crisp steering and solid track stance. Am I crazy? Sure! Having a ball with him and it👍

Last time I checked, nobody’s going to have fun for me😜

Great choice!  Always wanted to drive one of those. Keeper for certain.

That would also be one of my choices for a fun , affordable car . Perfect to learn how to drive properly . Not sure I would get it as a first car for my kids . Maybe  after a year or two in an even lesser powerful car . I have not driven it , so hard to tell exactly .

All depends on weather, where I live, the Golf R is the better choice for stealth and usability. AWD is a big selling point.

Re: Welcome to the new Taycan Forum!

I considered the Golf R.  A bit too hot and expensive. Picked up the BRZ for around 27 grand. Nice package, nice cost.

Anyway, back to the Taycan. Hope everyone is safe and happy and optimistic!

Drive a Huracan Performante...not much lag either Smiley but yes, the direct throttle response is amazing but only on certain EVs. Drive a BMW i3 for example, it sucks, my GLC63 S with a biturbo V8 has a better throttle response. Smiley

Tesla has a throttle response like the Taycan, very nice.

The i3 sucks but I haven't driven the new version with larger battery yet.

The Taycan Turbo S profits from the endless traction (seriously, I never drove a car with so much traction, amazing considering the huge torque figure) and the instant (brain connected to gas pedal Smiley) throttle response. It is really fun to drive fast through curves.

I love this car, I just wish it would be a little bit more "affordable". For this price tag and with this range, a no go for me. Smiley

Do the Michelin Sport Cups have better grip than the Pirelli P zeros?

I, too, drove the Taycan Turbo S  and loved the performance but not the price. For me a reasonable lease package might be tempting.
