Darn SUV on the freeway throw a rock that hit the windshield. A small chip the size of a pin head was left in the glass. Do I need to worry about it or do I try one of those windshield repair firms?
I have an SUV which this happened to. I had the thing fixed by a repair guy. It's been several years and the tiny crack stayed the same.
I hesitated about getting the whole windshield replaced since I though the factory is the best place and only place to have a windshield installed. I didn't want any aftermarket screwups. Also, the leaving the car all day, haggling with the insurance agencey and getting a crappy job afterall.
So for a few bucks the guy came over and fixed it in my driveway, insurance paid for it.
seems like the right decision in that situation.
Would much rather have them repair a crack in my 911 windshield than let some glass shop tear thru my car. Afterall, how many leather dashes do they see?
You figure a new rock crack will probably happen again anyway if you keep the car long enough and you can get a new windshield then...?
OH! you are talking about a "chip" right? Do you see any teeny tiny _crack_ or cracks forming?
If there are no a cracks, and just a tiny crater: leave it alone!!!
