Fair question....$100K barrier is huge from a marketing standpoint....note how BMW stays away from $100K+ zone. My bet is that Merc essentially owns the $100K+ commuter sedan mkt....S55/S600Sport have a stranglehold on NYC/SF mkts among demographics that I don't think BMW really penetrates....I suspect these same guys have various $100K+ 996TTS/CTT/360 in their fleets....not sure where E-Class and 5-Series on steroids fits into these $100K+ demographic schemes....

we're pretty happy with our S600, probably the best 'limo' style car out there short of a phantom. not as flash as a bentley, and basically a top Merc. i however, prefer the CL 600, but you can't be driven in that, now can you
the mayback is just too overdone in my opinion and can't match the phantom for aura.
in any case the german power wars are getting absurd.

We really like our E55 for what it is. A fast, long-range family cruiser. Its traction is poor so delivering its power to the road is hard but with the family you aren't usually kicking down anyway. I wouldn't buy the same car with more power unless there was something much improved in the car (4wd?).
