    Deposit on 997 and purchase price: know both?

    Okay, so you order the car, you put a deposit down and then you wait.

    When it gets here then you sit down and "negotiate" the price?

    That doesn't make sense.

    You put a deposit down on something you don't even know the price of.

    Is this the reason the deposit is refundable?

    IOW, to "make sense" the final price should be agreed on (including trade in?) when the deposit is handed over?

    How can you agree trade in price 6 months ahead of selling your car and buying a new one?

    I put deposit on agreed upon car specification and price, in my case MSRP, on July 13th. Deposit was $2,500 and was fully refundable. Dealer & I both signed off on car specification and pricing at time of order. I made a few changes in specification and pricing (for added options) during period before car was released for production, at which point the specification is frozen. When car arrived, I sat with the finance guy to finalize purchase. My car was delivered on October 28th, 3-1/2 months after order was placed.

    you could agree it would be the then current kelley BB or NADA rate?

    If you order a car, the deposit is "Good Faith $$" that you are serious.
    You will receive a "Pro Forma Invoice" when the order is in the system, and you will know what the car will cost you at invoice.
    I'am quite sure that you could negotiate a 'deal' at that time with your dealer, however it is early in the release cycle, allocations are in small numbers (2-4/mo) and demand is somewhat high, not alot of selection sitting around on the dealership lots, so a big deal may not be in the cards.

    Put my $2500 up in Oct and was looking at Feb/Mar prod..someone bailed and now I have a Jan prod slot...now I'am a waiter

    So are you going to step up to the plate and take the plunge?

    MaxE, Your dealership should be able to tell you to the penny the price of your new 997; if you ordered all of the options that are now available in the order guide. If there is a discount, you should know how much off MSRP in terms of dollars or a percentage. It is that simple; I do it everyday. Now a trade value 6 months in the future, is a nother story. But look at the bright side, it gives you loads of time to sell your car on your own for more money.... Revvv
