The extra power is more than the available traction, with an even greater overweight penalty, and overpriced. If I'd want fun from a mid-sized sedan I'd go fot the M5, and if I were hung on MB, I'd even rather get a tunned version of the E55 for a similar price. But equally valid opinions may of course vary, just sharing mine

I don't think the AMG E class lacks power at all. What it needs is a chassis, steering, and a traction to cope with the existing power. An E65 without proper tuning to the suspension and a more accurate steering will add to the suffering of the driver

Believe it or not, the dealership manager here in Atlanta, GA was telling me about it. I had gone with a friend of mine to drop his vehicle off at the dealership, started small talk about AMG vehicles. Starting talking about the 55 and from there it just led to the conversation about the E65, how it's supposed to be the new Mercedes-Benz flagship vehicle and how it'll make the BMW M5 run for it's money.

The "65" Bituro's are supposed to be a limited prouction run 2000 units ? each S, SL and CL.
These cars are all on the same basic chassis and were designed to take the V12 engine, I don't think the current E class is.
The poor M5 had a bad day at it Italian launch, out of eight cars or so
Two shredded thier gearboxs
One engine blew
Two crashed ?

The E chassis can take the V12, but you need SERIOUS chassis modifications, thats why the EV 12 from Brabus costs so much, performance aside, 0-155mph in 15.6 seconds! There will definitely not be an E65, there is simply no market for it, an E63 with a N/A V8 is much more likely. There are only 2/3 EV 12's in the world, think about it, AMG will make a car as fast as the Ev12 and price it for 100K dollars? bullcrap. Lets not even speak of internal range cannibalisation!
