It all seems like a silly marketing scheme.
Boxster CS? Well what trophys will those be racing for
Will there be a factory 987 race car to do battle? If so against what? Other Boxsters at PCA autocrosses??
I think its all a clever attempt to lure a certain age buyer who doesnt want a convertible and isnt comfortable with the 997 ownership thing. So Porsche tweaks the software, adds a modified PSE, stiffens the ride, deletes A/C and charges silly prices to ageing codgers who buy the Porsche romance but are too tired to do anything with it,
but who find the model designations CS, GTS, RS etc, reminding them of their youth.
Add the projected costs up for a Boxster coupe and it s CS option and you are up to 997 money with out the performance of a 997!
I doubt if Porsche has any genuine sporting plans for any Boxster. Its another money pit for a customer segment they have identified through careful analysis of customer data.
Arrrgh to software controls! Boxster buyers will get the dubious distinction of three types throttle response
control options! Standard! Sport Chrono on/off! or CS ! Its a shame that all three are not standard, or that at least the CS version is the "sport" setting with sport chrono!
