    some good memories...

...our relationship was short...but she was the first...the first Porsche...

    Re: some good memories...

Not my first Porsche but my first Porsche 996, a Carrera 2 with 300 HP and a lot of quality problems.
One of the first cars delivered to customers end of 1997.

    Re: some good memories...

My second 996, a Carrera 4 with 325 HP powerkit.
Picture taken during pickup at Porsche Werk 2 in Zuffenhausen.

    Re: some good memories...

My last 996, a 996 Turbo. The picture shows the car shortly after heavy mods done by RS-Tuning, incl. a 543 HP upgrade (measured 560 on the engine dyno), H&R coilover kit, race clutch system incl. one mass flywheel, gearbox oil cooler, etc. etc. etc. My dream car and I was pretty stupid to sell it.

    Re: some good memories...

Second picture, fresh arrival from RS-Tuning. I just loved this little baby, it even outran a friend's Lamborghini Countach with a supercharger mod.

    Re: some good memories...

    I would've kept that...
Giving up 500+ HP... what were you thinking?!?

    Re: some good memories...

we are all very fortunate to be able to enjoy such wonderful masterpieces of engineering

M3 gets replaced by turbo S cabriolet next week. i just couldn't with the boxster, even though the M3 is inifintely more practical. ive only had the m3 for 4 months.

long live my love affair with porsche.

    Re: some good memories...

Moogle, I hope you meant to say you coudn't part with the boxster?
Aw guys, this is great! I hope to be able to show such pictures within a couple of years too. Though I think that when age rises, I will be going more towards oldtime porsches. Of course I now want a gt3 RS and a turbo :P but prognosis is that after having a couple of "the newest" there will grow some desire for a first gen 911 or an RS 2.7
Keep the pics and stories coming, it is very inspiring!

Simple answer: after the first kid, I had time to drive this rocket on weekends only and maybe half and hour or so per day, if I was lucky.
After the second child, we were very busy, especially since my wife started to work again very fast.
For over three months, the red rocket was standing in the garage without me even being able to start the engine.
The typical garage queen, I hated it.
It started hurting to see this thing every morning and not being able to drive it. So I decided to give it away and buy a rocket for the whole family. I sold it and got a E55 AMG instead and (of course ) I ended up with a Cayenne Turbo 8 months later. I should have listened to my wife to keep the red monster, it was my dream car and I had it modifed exactly the way I wanted it.
Now we managed to make everything work, job, kids, etc. but I still can't drive my new baby 997 Carrera S too often. Especially not now because the weather is pretty bad over here.

I miss the red Turbo but my 997 compensates me pretty much for that loss. It is no Autobahn monster anymore but in sharp twists and turns, I don't think my red Turbo would have been able to pass me.

And the 997 Turbo is coming...

    Re: some good memories...

I remember this bad boy The very first turbo on the web amd possibly in the streets, made a lot of us envy of you then .

My interior. Whenever I see this picture, I almost have to cry... This was my dream car and I was stupid enough to sell it.

    Re: some good memories...

Your pictures don't show up anymore. We can host them if you want us to, just send them via eMail and I embed them in your post.

    Re: some good memories...

    Beautiful Turbo Christian.

I'd miss it too. Just think, you have the 997 S now and you're going to get a 997 turbo when it's available, right? Get the next turbo just how you want it and never let it go.

In my dreams...maybe. I cannot spend so much money anymore for a 997 Turbo but maybe I'll have at least the possibility to buy one when it shows up. Or I just keep the 997 Carrera S...it remains to be seen. Money rules the world, right?

    Re: some good memories...

    Sorry RC,

but why did you sell the 996tt?

    Re: some good memories...

    Never mind...

are you sure? I think the server was down for sometime this evening...(last evening more precisely)...

    now it should be ok...
if not I will send them to you

    Re: some good memories...

RC; from some of your posts I understand that you don't really like tuning companies like RUF or Gemballa. But you did have a tuned 996tt... what is the difference between these companies? Or what made you decide to tune it, having these "problems" with tuning.

One-mass flywheel, racing clutch system (pressure plate, disc, etc.), gearbox oil cooler, H&R coilover kit, sport exhaust system with high flow cats, racing shells (no rear seats), GT2 wheels, etc.
    Why do you ask?

    Re: some good memories...

you don't look happy driving such an awesome car

That's not me, I owned the red one.
I always had a big grin on my face while driving my car. Unfortunately nobody took a picture of me (thanks god, that stupid grin...).

BTW: this was my nicest "encounter", another very powerful Turbo and a supercharged Lamborghini Diablo. On that day, I also took the president of a regional Ferrari Club with me and scared the hell out of him. Of course in my 996 Turbo.
    I think I'm getting old...

    Re: some good memories...

    awesomeness.
