    997S, Gemball sport exhausts, and extra 30bhp!!!!!!!

    For those who don't know...Gemballa has a sport exhaust for the 997S, I've seen an audio clip and the sound is way better....may be the PSE from Porsche sounds similar to the gemballa one!!

    I've heard the audio clip of playing with the gas...and the sound is different(sporty), but I don't know if its worth to install this???. What do you guys think???. Whats the price of it????

    Is this the Gemballa that caused a guy's 996TT to burn to the ground, and then failed to stand behind it?

    I mean what's your new engine warrenty worth to you? 30 unapproved HP? Seems like a waste.

    I guess I could afford to self-warrenty the car, but it just seems extremely wasteful thing to do for a "few" extra HP especially on a new model without all the bugs ironed out.

    just my opinion.

    you guys are all negative on the gemballa exhaust, from what i know gemballa is a really prestigious company that is high quality... their exhaust system seems great to me... why are you all against it? How much should it be around anyway?

    the amazing thing to me is what happened after the car burned...
    Gemballa KNOWING the car burned up featured it in one of their marketing calendars. Wow...

    I don't think you will see 30HP from an exhaust, I don't trust them just based on that claim.

    i dont think there is any way to extract 30hp with a modification on the exhaust,cant believe it

    If they claim they can get +30 HP simply by installing an exhaust, it is the same as saying:
    1) Porsche ingeneurs are stupid

    or
    2) we are lying in your face

    Alternatively they just came out with the 30 HP powerpackage faster than Porsche...

    1) On certain cars a greatly improved exhaust flow can add noticeably to HP.

    2) That was a nice looking interior with the yellow and black contrast

    It's behond me, how on earth in the XXI century, a tuning company can claim a power gain of 30Hp using their ownn made Sport exhaust

    "Hey waite, take the sport air filter too, it will give you 15Hp, so you get 45hp for your 997S with these two mods" .....hellllo

    Ok people.....your comments about this gemballa sport exhaust are against!.....All things I say (like the extra 30bhp) its because I've read them (this doesn't mean I am saying its true or false), just informing you all!!!. I also think twice and its a bit tricky that a sport exhaust gives you an extra 30bhp directly but???...........that's what gemballa says .

    Hey did someone heard the audio clips of it????, if not please hear them and then post your opinion, I think it has a sporty sound!.

    i dont know, it says it comes with new exhaust manifolds, new catalysts, and mufflers and tips... so that is reasonable to say 30hp... thats probably not WHP, but flywheel hp... i would guess

    Geez,

    just re-read the story about Gemballa's "professional" attitude to earn money...

    Would not even buy a single exhaust system from them!

    The Gemballa exhaust doesn't sound like the Porsche sport exhaust, they never sounded like the classic 911 exhausts but always delivered a throatier and louder sound only.
    It would be an alternative to the PSE but personally, I'd go for the original thing.
    I also don't trust the 30 HP claim (I think it is only 25 HP over here in Germany): the 997 Carrera S is a normally aspirated car, to achieve 25-30 HP more, you need a little bit more than a new exhaust, highflow cats, etc. A motronic software update might get you than in conjunction with the exhaust mods. I'm always a little bit sceptical regarding Tuner claims: maybe (just a speculation!) they took a 997 Carrera S, installed their exhaust kit ("powerkit") and they measured 380 or 385 HP on the dyno. But maybe the stock car already had 375 or 380 HP...

    Just a good advise from past experience: stay with the PSE.
    When it comes out and you don't like the sound, you still have time to go for the Gemballa system.

    I've heard the exhaust but it is muffled out from the sound of flames and explosions.

    AndrewSS, that's correct PSE is only sound tunning - no HP additions.

    Only tuner exhausts with high flow cats might add some power. The systems with different mufflers only usually change the power/torque curve and if you're lucky, you see a few horses more. The worst part: if you're unlucky, you see a few horses less.

    My order is taking long cause I ordered the PSE. After spending so much on a car, I would not even think about f***ing it up by adding some junk from aftermarket. If you don't trust Porsche on giving you a good car that you have to go for aftermarket crap, then I suggest you don't buy a Porsche. If you really need the speed then wait for the Turbo.

    997C2S, I'm waiting for the PSE as well - its going to be a long wait cause there is no ETA yet and it might be 2006! Are you ready for this long wait?

    muhri, i'm in the same boat. i moved my build date twice so i could get the pse. i'm now at a march build. not moving it again. i hope the pse is available by then, if not i'll have to do it afterwards. want to have the car when the weather starts getting warmer here.
