Nick - I would never choose the GT3 as a heavy traffic vehicle (with Manual or PDK). If it happens, someone has had a bad accident ahead on the road. I would hope you wouldn't use your RS for that sort of trip either.

Nice footwork, but looks like the car understeers quite a bit at the beginning (then looks better later - maybe tires had to warm)

Yeah, you need to trail brake most modern Porsches quite a bit - this helps to fight the inherent understeer (and allows later braking). The part that is surprisingly difficult to master is the smooth release of the brake and transition to throttle...

My all time favorite thing to do to passengers. They always assume we will not stop in time and then the exit, once the front grabs, is unmatched.

This trait shows up in how Porsche race cars, especially the 911s, perform on track too. They always have a later braking point than others, helps with passing under braking. And the fact that with the engine at the rear the drivers gets back to the throttle much sooner than others and helps with exit speed. On tracks that's the Porsche advantage, faster going in and faster coming out. unless the following straight is very long or the other car have a huge HP advantage, the pass made cannot be un-made.
On speed trace graphs, the trace will be a V shaped one, a lower minimum speed at the apex, most others will be a U shaped one with a higher minimum speed at the apex but slower going into and out of the apex.

I agree with Harry, once the broken Beetle 718 appeared I never thought Porsche would bring the wonderful n/a six back to the Boxster & Cayman. At last a worthy successor to the 981 GTS. I’ll probably never go for one though, no fault of the car but in English money is it worth £40k more than our 981 GTS? Probably not, and with SWMBO likely to need hip replacement surgery in the not too distant future I will have to come to terms with the end of sports car motoring. 
We’ll just enjoy our 981 Boxster GTS for as long as we can.

Thank you We really enjoy our 981 GTS too, one thing for sure with the latest EU noise regs and particulate filters there is no way the 718 will sound as good!

True, the OPF cars will never sound as good. We’ve spent lots of time together with OPF and non-filter RS to understand the differences. Inside they’re just as loud, but outside the OPF is quieter. The 4.0 Spyder really interests me though. Stupidly I forgot to ask for a ride in one at the ring. Ideally I’d like a Spyder but with the split red/black interior from the GTS. I don’t like the special pink Spyder interior.

Now the Boxster GTS has gone, I’m sure when the sunny spring weather arrives and we are no longer under house arrest I’ll miss it, and if our friendly Porsche dealer lets me have a drive in the GTS 4.0 I’ll miss it even more, but I know SWMBO wouldn’t want to go back to a Boxster, the Carrera T is so much more comfortable for her.

More weight is the last thing any sports car needs. As Gordon Murray notes, excess weight compromises everything, braking, handling, acceleration, efficiency, etc. If PAG thought sales plummeted with the F4T, it would crater if they move it to an EV.
Didn't FSW say he'd retire before the 911 goes EV, because he doesn't want to go down in the history books as the guy that ruined the 911.
