Do you think so? Because of the cars and the kids, we have to refrain from spending money for other things. Of course we have a good life but I wish it would be a little bit less stressful and including a little bit more income, especially to cover car cost. For a car freak like me, it is very frustrating not to be able to make all my car dreams come true. I admit this sounds crazy and I'm probably blessed too compared to many other people worldwide but I need cars like other people need drugs, alcohol, sex and whatever. I have no bad habits, honestly...just cars (according to my wife ).
I would never put my family's future in danger by spending too much on cars but if I'd win 10 Millions in the lottery, half of it would probably be "invested" in cars...or I would open my own Porsche dealership here in my town. (I hope my dealer doesn't read this now... )

Maslow hierarchy of needs theory sets out to explain what motivated individuals in life to achieve. He set out his answer in a form of a hierarchy. He suggests individuals aim to meet basic psychological needs of hunger and thirst. When this has been met they then move up to the next stage of the hierarchy, safety needs, where the priority lay with job security and the knowing that an income will be available to them regularly. Social needs come in the next level of the hierarchy, the need to belong or be loved is a natural human desire and people do strive for this belonging. Esteem need is the need for status and recognition within society, status sometimes drives people, the need to have a good job title and be recognised or the need to wear branded clothes as a symbol of status.
Self-actualisation the realisation that an individual has reached their potential in life. The point of self-actualisation is down to the individual, when do you know you have reached your point of self-fulfilment? Thats not an easy question to answer and here I come back to your point. Who doesn't want a little bit more? And when you had that a bit more, you always want another "a bit more". Someone may say it is false, but deeply inside ourself it is always like that. Why rich people arrive to a certain point where they have so much money that they can't even count it and tend forget about how much they own? But they never end wanting that "bit more" which in this case will be followed by power and influence, but thats another story.
To be honest, each time I had and/or achieved something, I tend to already think at the next step. This can be cars as it can be career or even better knowledge.
Until two years ago I didn't even imagined to have a GT3. Well, with the wanting inside my self and other factors, now I have it.
So I guess Christian, if we want something and believe we can have it, why not try. Sometimes things may appear not possible, but nothing its impossible.

I think, everyone that has a Porsche here, owns almost all the pyramid. May be some small stones miss in some cases, but is mostly the case that we all fulfill the pyramid. The difference that distinguish people after a certain level, is how high is the top of the pyramid

Thanks guys. Very blessed indeed. The CGT is on another level compared to anything else I have ever driven. It really is a race car with all of the creature comforts of a road car. I've only had it for a week now and with what little amount of driving I have done so far, due to the unusally rainy weather here in So Cal, I can tell you that the car has easily surpassed my expectations. The sound, steering feel, handling, and even the much talked about clutch all make the car an absolute treat to drive. Power wise, this car is unbelievable! I thought my GT2 and heavily modified 993TT were fast. This thing is mind numbingly fast. Hopefully we'll have a couple of sunny days coming up and I can put some more miles on it. I can't wait for a full throttle rush to redline.

    Happy motoring,

    Amir

Congrats, Amir, and thanks for the pictures! It feels good to hear you compliment the CGT and appreciate it for what it was meant to be. We look forward to a more detailed report in the future.

Perhaps RC but NOT the wrong country for actually driving these toys. Amir, like the rest of us here in the states has to drive with one eye on the rearview and one eye on the horizon always vigilant for the killjoys in blue, while you can laugh your way to redline.

Will always admire the relatively logical approach to speed on German autobahn....however, Germans have to deal w/that pesky societal "envy" issue, crimping their ability to use whatever car they want for commuting, etc. In contrast, both LA and SF have numerous fun mtn roads (along w/some of world's best weather) to unwind great cars....all within 30-45 mins of epicenters of wealth creation...

Re: Hope you don't mind me posting these...

VKSF - just a heads up that you have used your fav word " wealth " on about 20 recent threads . Time to talk cars !

Re: Hope you don't mind me posting these...

    Maverick, you are so right!
Congrats Amir. Hope to get a garage like that ever, and I really appreciate the pictures. Please tell us you enjoy those cars It was good to read that someone finally appreciates the CGT. The past time we have meen cast upon with all kinds of jerks saying the CGT was not nice...

Re: Hope you don't mind me posting these...

Thanks guys. I've been a quiet member of this board for several years now, and somehow I always felt like posting pictures of my cars would make people think I was showing off. I never realized how kind and supportive everyone would be. So thanks again. By the way, my wife thanks you guys too because now she doesn't have to hear me ramble on and on and on. Every time she sees me typing away at the computer she jokingly asks me "car porn again?"

I think with the exception of Larry B, who's opinion I greatly respect, most of the people whom I met that have bought the car and have had a little bit of time behind the wheel have spoken quite highly of it.

It's funny, over the last several years I have completely fallen in love with the stripped out products from the factory. I think it all started with my GT2 replacing my modified 996TT then the CS replacing my 360 modena and now the CGT. My wife thinks I'm nuts. The other day I took her for a ride in the CGT and she was astonished. Not just by how fast the car is but also that a car costing $450K would make all sorts of "weird noises" at idle. But to me that's the beauty of these cars. They are all so different and you have to appreciate each one differently. I guess that's why I have a hard time getting rid of any of them.

If we can get back to some good old California sunshine, I'll try and post some more pictures of the CS and the CGT together.

    Take Care,

    Amir

Wow, amazing pictures, I love the profile of both those cars a lot Do have any -- larger -- pics of your GT2? I'm really starting to love that car

I too like the low-fat versions of F-cars and P-cars. Brings them closer too their original sports-car roots and further away from the tempting transmogrification into a fatass GT.

Re: Hope you don't mind me posting these...

Great pictures and great cars. You know what you want and you go out and get it.

Re: Hope you don't mind me posting these...

Thanks Amir, beautiful car. Is it faster than your CS?

Re: Hope you don't mind me posting these...

    Amir,
    Belated congratulations!
I'm on an overseas trip until the end of this month, however, I hope we see each other in Malibu for a drive and some coffee as soon as I get back, if weather allows it.

Re: Hope you don't mind me posting these...

Yes. The GT2 is very fast. Lots of torque.
