911 replacement?
Fellows,
I need to run something by you and see what your feedback (reaction) is on this idea.
It's been awhile that I have been contemplating to post the following but truly have not had enough time to sit down and write it up.
I also understand that there have been many discussions and threads regarding the looks and the performance of 911 (various models 996, 997...) but one thing that I have been playing around with in my mind is that may be Porsche is developing a new 911 replacement a la 356 to 901 in 1963.
By the advent of the new chief of design and being criticized by almost everyone regarding 911 performance and looks, I would think Porsche officials are cooking up something in the background.
Everyone says that Porsche is too concerned about damaging their market by the possibility of introducing a new car to eventually replace the 911 but isn't it what they did when replacing 356 with 901 (911)? And didn't it turn into the biggest success?
Now, what do you all think of this idea? Does anyone think that Porsche is developing a new comer (not 4 door stuff) to eventually replace the 911 which essentially gives them the freedom to gradually get away from the 6 cylinder engines and move up?
