    Madame's Quattroporte arrives

    My wife's QP came off the truck at her office yesterday from scottsdale F.

    grigio nuvolari/couio.

    superbly built, interior luxurious and high quality. very compact feel and look. much smaller than S600. rear end v elegant, my concern.

    she loves it.

    she actually read the manual last night, a first.

    How does it autoshift in around town cruising ? I've read that it's a bit herky/jerky for the daily chores of a luxury sedan when you are not thinking of shift points or torque band sweet spots .

    Congrats, Watt! QP is a wonderful car, especially in dark colours. Best of range from Maserati.

    I test drove it a couple weeks ago. I love it. I think it is the first car that has good driving dynamics like an M5. It is a very pretty car in and out. It is fun and easy to drive fast. The F1 is nice like the CS, but the auto mode is not to my liking...it is fine driving normally, but not so good in traffic. You can kinda tell that it is slipping the clutch as you fether throttle inching forward...at some point...the clutch fully engages giving that herky/jerky feel. Doing it in manual mode felt just like the CS and I was totally good with it. It has good power, even thought the car is 4400+ lbs. it doesn't feel heavy...but certainly not powerful. I have the feeling that they may drop the V12 in it later to compete with V10 M5...since the chassis is based on the 612.

    I like it a lot...top of my 4-door list with the M5 right now...

    That's similar to what I've read. I wonder how the casual driver too busy with the cell phone in commute traffic to manual shift will feel when the herky / jerkies creates clutch odor and spills the Starbucks !

    Given this car sounds like a "ladies who lunch"-type of car, Maser may have delivered yet another marketing turd for F dealers to subsidize w/profits from 430...

    Car is NOT based off the 612 Scaglietti, it's a different platform that will spawn the new Maserati Coupe and Spider.

    I was told by the Maserati rep that it was based on the 612...but that Doesn't mean it's true...I will have to find out!

    we'll get some photos soon. she says the auto is not bad but not perfectly smooth, but that's irrelevant as she drives with the paddle shifters in manual all the time, just like the CS.

    car weighs 3990, not 4400 as stated above. looks and build wise, it is beautiful and exclusive. one of my broker pals got one in to sell for 25 over, and liked it himself so much he decided to keep it and drive it, saying it's the best 4 door he's ever experienced.

    i havent driven yet, but the exhaust note when she blew up the mountain this am was quite F like....

    i will give you a driving report asap whenever i use her car.

    Yes he's mistaken. It's called the LM139 platform, and even though its layout is similar to the 612 Scaglietti, it is a different Maserati only platform. As I said before it will be used for the upcomming new Maserati Coupe and Spider.

    Better match may be 612 and Qporte. Qporte's Buick-like side portholes/side profile and vintage H Prelude rear match well w/612's similarly "interesting" look....

    Was it your CS then I saw a couple Saturdays ago parked on Robertson in fron of the IVY?...Simply an awesome machine but how does your heart not skip with the agressive L.A. drivers/tourists/freeway racers who sidewipe first....look second!
