Not often that you can buy a performance focused car in this price range that also is fun year-round.  Glad they are selling so well - I hope other manufacturers are paying attention!

    Re: Toyota Yaris GR

So what is driving the people then to buy it ? I understand that all the already "Mini works" and "500 Abarth" DD drivers look for something new, but considering that on RT a "real" sportscar seems to usually require a sub 3 sec to 100 km/h and a top speed of well beyond 300 km/h - what is the hype all about ? I am not doubting that the GR is a fun car to drive, but, perhaps I am mistaken, I see it as a sporty DD city car only ?

    Re: Toyota Yaris GR

for me the purpose is to have a fun car to drive around in late autum/winter/early spring, to not care about street conditions, stones, etc. To drive smaller C roads. Thas the main purpose for me. It depends also where you live. Ah and also as a smaller City car, as the RS6 is a little bit on the long side.

For me was the stealth factor and cheap running costs (full insurance where I live for a 911 GT3, per year, is ten grand. Euros]. The Yaris? 1k. Tax for Yaris is less than 50€. The GT3 is like 1200€ per year. Also I have a better chance of not loosing my driver’s license with this one. I can park it without being worried that some “save the planet” nut job will key my car. And it is fun to drive. And it’s is fun to see the other people surprised by it Smiley

Fun fact: Yaris GR wheelbase is 2560 mm  (100.8 in.)

    991.2 GT3 wheelbase is 2456 mm (96.7 in.)

    Congratulations. Smiley

I had the Lancia Delta HF Integrale (actually three of them...long story) and because of my Integrale experience, I was actually thinking about getting the Yaris GR. Smiley
Still not sure yet though, maybe your experience (and many more pics Smiley) will help me (and others here) with their decision. Biggest issue is the manual gearbox since wife/daughter don't drive manual and I'm not sure if my son (once he has his license) wants to drive manual. We'll see...

Drive safely and enjoy in good health. Smiley

Why don’t you just buy it for yourself?

I live in the city, I don't have space for an additional car, plus it would just be stupid to have it next to a Mini, a Yaris could perfectly take on the same tasks as a city runabout, and then some. Smiley

In Europe you can not get the circuit pack + the premium  pack. It is either confort  or sport .

Ah ok. It’s a bit of a weird decision though. How much weight is that saving? 5kg? Lol

Coincidently I've been driving my daughters Mini quite a lot recently. If it helps the Yaris has a bigger boot, tighter steering circle, and easier to see out of. Also far easier to park - as you can see the rear wheel arches

This would exactly be my reason for having one... it is a very stress-free to have a car that takes the abuse of city life without being too "precious'; you don't worry too much about parking etc. and you don't get noticed for the wrong reasons.  If you have a real winter, then a true AWD (ie. no part time) makes snow driving great fun, practicing your 4 wheel drifts.  We still have our Subaru STi which does these tasks, I think Grant still has his Mitsu EVO for the same reasons, there is a small tradition on RT for a rally car "beater".  Smiley

    Re: Toyota Yaris GR

Saw one parked in the street yesterday, doesn't look like a boy racer car to me, no wings or silly overdone intakes, etc. It looks quite form follows function with its wide stance, wide arches, etc but no flashy unnecessary elements. Those who have no clue what it is will look no further than its Toyota badge and not pay any attention to it, but for those who know what it is it will have a decent amount of street cred and respect imo.
