Haha, he already gives it a thumbs down - manuals, so last century.... Smiley And since Toyota will not bring this to our continent, I can't buy one to replace our winter rally car (Subie Sti hatch).

So I think I will start a campaign to convince Bayswater Rentals to bring in a fleet of GRs for their Sydney and Perth depots.... it will replace the RAV4 we usually rent on our Australian stays..... it will be the No Birds Yaris.... Smiley

I didn’t give it a thumbs down (I haven’t driven it yet) and the manual comment was more related to the fact that my wife, my daughter and maybe even my son wouldn’t drive it if I get one, so it would be a car just for me and I already have the Lambo for that.

Also even temporary registration will be an issue being so close to Christmas. Most probably I will get permanent license plates only in January.

On the positive side, I already found and bought the winter tires, Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. All four cost less than one 911 set of rear tires 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haha - the joys of cheap running costs. Good choice on the Pilot Alpins, thats what we use on the STi for a long time now. They sacrifice maybe 10-15% grip in snow compared to Blizzaks or similar pure traction tires, but are 200% better on dry (and cold/winter) tarmac with their much stiffer sidewalls. Great in cold rain too.

Picked up mine this week. It was a itch I wanted to scratch having regretted buying a Lancia Integrale in the 90's

The car suits the B roads in the Peak District near where I live

First impressions:-
- car just feels well connected to the road and very 'mechanical', suspension firm but well damped
- the brakes have a hard pedal and great feel
- the steering has a good weight - not too light
- gearbox is a delight - firm and precise
- traction is as expected - welcome in todays weather and an overriding reason I bought it
- engine is torquey - performance is rapid and feels right for this size of car

Early days yet but all positive !

That’s good to hear. I haven’t seen the Pearl white because Toyota Australia has so far only brought the other 3 colours in with the Pearl white reserved only for the top of the range Rallye model.
