Thanks for getting us back to...Porsches!

My plan...keep the 997S for 4 years then the 997 turbo!

    Re: New on 997 Turbo

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

Electronic differential as E-Diff("Manettino") on Ferrari F430???

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

i got an info yesterday fresh from marbella(boxster launching) ,saying 480ps for turbo
also had another info saying upcoming c4s will have wider body than c2,c2s.
last info ,5 new variants in 2005....

E-Diff is not Manettino! Manettino is the button on the steering wheel to change the ESP settings.

E-Diff is a electronically managed differential.Something like BMW M3 has as a manual.

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

Thanks for the news butb this worries me: "electoronic differentials". Electronic differential is what the ABD (Automatic Brake Differential) the the non-LSD 996's already had which is not as sporty as a mechanical LSD, not a step foward so could it mean a electronic adjustable mechanical differential? (such as in the F430's if I'm not mistaken, the diff can be adjusted via the manettino).

In F430 you can adjust I think five different modes. After each mode there is a specific setting. In this setting could also be some settings for the e-diff.

Some paper write that the Ferrari e-diff is better then a mechanical diff. The e-diff could be used for secure driving and for sportive driving.

    Greetings

Maybe it's similar to 959's active differential?
(after 14 years, still nothing similar..the 959 was a technical masterpiece)

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

Nothing beats a mechanical part -
I hope they dont take this into a direction
where most of the cars parts will rely on
    electronics-

Not with the current cost-saving philosophy, maybe more like the Haldex used in the VW 4-motion AWD or Audi A3/TT Quattro AWD

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

Should the car only have 460hp I would clearly wait for the powerkit (2007 or 2008?). Otherwise the increase in power would probably not be noticable (compared to X50). I hope that RC can contradict the 460hp figure

On the other hand, I recall that RC mentioned that two versions (standard and s) will most likely be offered in parallel starting from day one... That may mean that the standard version has 460hp and the s version will have more

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

...possibly lighter in weight. (someone pinch me, I think I'm dreaming)

460HP wouldn't be bad if there was a bit of weight loss. I'm just glad the vents extend all the way down this time instead of the current boxster-like vents. Now if they would only make the headlights smaller...

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

they will have to make the new vents FULL length, since the new boxster's vents are the size of the old turbo's

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

I have spoken to two dealers in Toronto, and they both said 480hp.

I would verify it but with whom?
480 HP sound right, 460 HP might be possible too, I heard both variants from people close to PAG.
And it is definetely true: the 997 was just the beginning, the 997 Turbo will have lots of electronics stuff, incl. PASM, electr. diff, etc. I'm not sure DSG will be a standard option or that it will be available from the start. The PCCB will definetely be optional but cheaper than the current system as far as I heard. Well, cheaper means around 5000 Euro instead of the current almost 8000 Euro.

The final specs for the 997 Turbo are already on the table but it is difficult to get a grip on them. Comes time, comes grip...

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

    Delivered early 2006?

    Grip it!

specially near Christmas..we need some new info..to schedule next year's gift ..

    Re: News on 997 Turbo

Pfaff Porsche in Woodbridge said delivery of 997TT might be Summer of 2006, and Downtown Porsche said something like Spring of 2007. My order of 997S is with Pfaff, I have already told my dealer that I would like to change my order to 997TT if it is truly delivered in 2006, and they assured me of it. What have you all heard?
